The media could not be loaded. You’re going to think this review is the work of a driveling fan-girl, but the impression made on me during my short experience with this Japanese-style futon mattress is so profound that I simply don’t care. It’s not hyperbole to say this mattress is one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on. You know that kind of rest that reaches down through your muscles and into your bones? The kind that feels like you haven’t truly rested for months, or even years? I like to snuggle my child to sleep, and tonight we decided to try laying on the futon mattress. I literally could not pry myself off it until forced by my dying phone while working on reviews. I begrudgingly did the responsible thing and moved to the sofa to charge and continue writing, but all I can think about now is returning to this small heaven. I listened to a series of podcasts on the science of sleep not too long ago, with one of its many emphases being the importance of a quality bed. I got this futon mattress to have on hand when my nephew sleeps over but I’m already planning how to commandeer it between visits. I know everyone has different ideals when it comes to beds. My preferred mattress is 100% firm with a foam padding on top BUT I’m highly flexible and have actually been sleeping just fine on a sagging sofa the past few months. This futon is nowhere near 100% firm, but the floor it’s laying on is. The mattress is more firm and supportive than soft and squishy. The cushion is giving but doesn’t relent the way memory foam does. I inspected the handiwork the best I could and found the corners reinforced with backstitching, which convinces me it will last. What else can I say? Would I buy this again if something were to happen to the one we’ve received? Absolutely, hands down.

We got this to use a an emergency bed and for camping. It's pretty well made and comfortable for the most part. It's definitely better than sleeping on the floor or ground. We used it for a few nights "camping" in our patio room to give it a test before taking it out into the wild. It's not meant to be a permanent bed, but works well enough for what we need it for. I do wish it was a bit thicker, but not much. This thickness is ideal for short term use. It would then become too cumbersome for our needs. This would make an excellent mattress topper. I do recommend putting sheets or even a duvet on it to help keep it clean. It's definitely worth the price and we might get another one for the dogs to sleep on (yes, they're very spoiled) when camping or even for the house.

Needed something thicker than the average exercise or yoga mat in order to do some physically therapy at home. Ordered this little foldable mat/tress in the Twin (39”x80”) size in the Purple color option. The floor futon arrived compressed but fluffed up quickly once it was out of the box. No noticeable odors. Fits nicely on the living room and has plenty of room to do most physical therapy exercises. The 4” thickness (foam) provides enough padding and support for an older person's hips and back but is not so fluffy it impedes movement. Seems well made with good stitching. It is covered in what feels like cotton/polyester fabric that is soft enough to the touch. Love the light purple color as well. Would also work great for a kid sleeping over at a grandparent's home etc. Definitely beats the tar out of the old egg crate style foam we all used as kids....

'Futons' have changed a lot since my last one perhaps 20 years ago - which was essentially a 'pull out' metal- frame sofa with maybe a 2" batting-stuffed 'futon' on top. Now this one: 4" thick, layered Polyester/foam construction: Fabric shell → Poly-Fil padding → 2–3" high-density support foam → more Poly-Fil → fabric shell. Feel: Soft surface polyester batting with a denser core for stability. It will compress some but rebound better than pure batting-only olld style futons. Support: Foam core provides even pressure distribution and a more “cushioned slab” Best Use: Floor futon, guest bed, or topper-style futon. Easy to roll/fold. Lighter to move. Ths is going to initially be used as a temporary topper on a 20yo Full size mattress at our Summer Camp - planned to be replaced next Sumer witha hybrid Queen It will then become a roll- out guest floor mattress/futon - ad well as a camping tent floor mattres. 5 stars Mutiple use futon - mattress topper guest floor futon, camping tent mattress

This floor mattress is ok. It is made with good quality materials and is well-made. It was comfortable the first few times I used it, and now I wish it were a tad thicker. I am a side sleeper, weigh 170, and feel like I am on a thin mattress on the floor. This mattress is thicker around the edge, and THAT spot is good to lie on. Even on a futon, it feels a bit thin. This feeling is most time because sometimes it does feel ok to lie on.
