This backpack is such a great buy! This is the third we have purchased of this exact bag. The others lasted by daughter through high school, college and nursing school. I know my kiddo will be able to use this for years to come. If he decides not to use, I can always add it to my Jansport collection! The red is a deep shade, exactly what you see here. My kids (highschool age) love this model and all the features it has. So much so that we have several. We live in an extremely rainy, windy area. While it is true that the upper fabric of the bag has a waterproof lining, THE SUEDE LEATHER BOTTOM IS JUST SUEDE- NO WATERPROOFING, NO LINING, NO NOTHING. Also, the zippers are just standard zippers, so in our environment water gets right in (my kids walk several miles each day to and from the bus and have come home with soaked notebooks, etc., just from walking in the rain). We ended up purchasing some waterproof backpack covers which work well and are easy to use, but if you are looking for a truly waterproof backpack this is NOT the model for you. ... show more

The material feels great, zippers feel strong and securely interlock. Capacity is great, fits my laptop (2020 MacBook Air with case) in the laptop slot. Do know the laptop bottom side is not padded BUT there is a gap where the stitching ends. It is almost like a hanging compartment so the laptop does not sit all the way at the bottom with the tan leather pad, it “floats”. See picture for clarification. The only complaint is that I wish the straps were a bit wider, to me they did in a bit. I also wish that all the paired zippers had the leather pull-strap. Overall, very satisfied with the backpack, love the color and the white interior lining! Definitely recommend this backpack! It’s been holding up as a gym back as well, shoes and shorts, water bottle and headphones inside! ... show more
