I love this machine and the large bed for quilting. The lighting is superb, and although It can be picky, (use good thread, bobbins, and needles) and yet there will be times you scratch your head trying to figure out a small problem. I would suggest joining a Janome group on Face Book. They have been so helpful with their suggestions on how to solve various problems. Once you learn how to use the machine, it’s a work horse. I love this machine! I have been wanting a really nice, high-end sewing machine since I began quilting. Once I decided on my budget, I began the hunt for the perfect machine. It did not take too long to find the Janome MC6650, and I decided to purchase it. This machine was within my budget, and it includes all of the features that were important to me. The MC6650 make other machines in its class look bad! The Janome MC6650 has a high shank for those “thick “ projects. It has independent bobbin winding. I use it all the time! The machine is very quiet too. Go to Janome..com to see all its features. This machine can be used on a long arm as well with a 10 inch throat and feed dog drop. It works well! ... show more

You barely need the manual if you are not a beginner. I've used my new machine for almost two months now and during lock down, a lot in comparison to my 'normal' scheduled life. I've used several different types of fabric including silk and satin with success. I have not used heavy denim but some multi layered items that are plenty thick this machine handled with ease. The bobbin is slightly larger than most and doesn't like my older Singer metal bobbins. The ones they give you are, BONUS, much larger. I like that the LED panel is very easy to understand and read even when I'm wearing my readers. Best possible feature is the huge space for moving fabric in the center. The light is also stellar and allows you to use it for times you need a powerful light and you don't want to move over to your other craft table to get your magnifiers. It's a solid machine. Very heavy but I like that as it will not move around on you when shifting quilts and heavy items. ... show more

This is a step up from my beginner quilting machine, a Brother CS6000i. Because I am not interested in lots of embroidery stitches, I did not want to spend the extra several thousand dollars for the Janome 6700 model. I did purchase the extension table and the HP plate & foot for quarter inch seams. For several hundred dollars I got the key 6700 model quilting elements that I will need. Take the time to read the manual as there are small but important differences between some of the stitches. I spent time just sewing seams and comparing stitches before starting a project. The HP plate and foot are definitely the way to go for those perfect quarter inch seams! I am pleased with all of the features this machine offers right at your finger tips. ... show more

This Janome MC6650 was an investment for me as a senior. I was excited to learn to see on it. It began to have bobbin issues about two months after I started to sew on it. Bobbin case was shifting and catching the needle. Took it to repair shop three times and then it was sent to mfg. Manufacturer on did additional repairs and it continued to have same issue. Disappointed Janome wouldn't replace it. Not good business practice. ... show more
