absolutely love this bass. I'm a drummer and guitar player,i just wanted a cheap-o bass to mess around on when writing music. It's beautiful, sounds great, active pickups. it's a bit top heavy because of poplar wood, but I mean, its $200.00. OH, the tuners are garbage. You will need to replace them. Two of the tuners slipped when restringing right out of the box. If this happens to you, use a tool like a screwdriver or butter knife to assist turning the tuners at the string cut out. Once you get past a certain point, you won't need to do that anymore. just a minor annoyance. I'm not even mad about it. It sounds and plays so good, I only had to do minor setup work. drop the action a little bit, oil the fretboard, adjust the pickups. BAM... it feels like playing pro equipment. ... show more

It's a great bass.
I thinking is the best bass in this price range, Active and passive electronics, body is balanced and awesome tones. It just need a good setup out of the box, maybe some new strings ( at least 105s for drop d) only minor imperfections and a really tight elecronics cavity cover (had to hit it with a screwdriver to get it loose). As your first bass it's perfect
Í bought this as my first bass, I've been playing guitar for a bit and wanted to give the bass a try. The craftsmanship for the price is actually pretty good. Out of the box the fret edges weren't sharp although I did need to adjust the truss rod due to the height. Aside from that it's good and sounds good. It holds tuning pretty good. It's also comfortable to play. The white finish and black hardware look great and have no visible scuffs or marks. Inside the box it's just the bass itself. After a quick setup it plays pretty good. Although I would recommend getting some new strings to replace the ones that come out of the box. I'd say the only flaw would be the controls aren't very intuitive or easy to use without some knowledge beforehand. Though they still feel solid and won't break off or fall off easily. ... show more

Active pickups

It's a great bass for the price. The active pickups are awesome. It plays nice out of the box, just minor tweaks as far as set-up (and some new strings). Certainly a quality bass with active pickups for an affordable price.
