The Yellowjackets's compositions - all but two by Russell Ferrante - sound better than ever with the addition of big band arrangements by Bob Mintzer and Vince Mendoza. Almost all solos are by the Yellowjackets themselves, with a few by members of the WDR Big Band. I am not a fan of Mintzer's electronic wind instrument (EWI), but even that does not detract from my enjoyment of this CD. I was concerned a few CDs ago when Jimmy Haslip left the group, but Dane Alderson sounds great on electric bass. ... show more
