  • Unbelievable Value & Quality
Just a fantastic guitar. Every facet is top notch. This guitar compares to those 4x the price and more. It's hard to comprehend how IYV can make a profit selling these stellar instruments for such a low price. This hollow body guitar looks beautiful, plays great and sounds killer. Buy it.

  • Just buy one, you'll see
The media could not be loaded. Took a couple tries but I ended up with an amazing guitar. The first one showed up with the neck snapped. The second was nearly perfect. They send these in thin, one ply cardboard boxes with very little packing material. The first one showed up in a box that looked fine - neck was snapped. The second one showed up in a box that was wide open on the porch and the guitar was in near perfect condition. Amazon sent a replacement for the first one the next day. No biggie. The keeper (in the video) is a super nice 137 copy. Always wanted a 137 but have gotten distracted with guitars and basses made in Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam and Brazil. All of the instruments I have gotten from these places have been remarkable. This IYV 137 copy is in almost perfect, little thinner body, super fun to play. I did nothing but change the strings (before I even plugged it in) and soaked the fretboard in lemon oil. Action is nice and low, neck is dead on, frets are rolled and bound (super nice edge work - soft), no buzzes (frets), inlays are clean, pickups are hot (enough), no crackles rolling knobs, binding all around looks good. Tuners are meh... but work just fine. I got mine for $158. I mean..... cmon I am super happy with this thing. Minor imperfections in the clear. So what. Buy one. If the first one sucks, send it back, you'll get a good one. Robots are making these things... they are clean. ... show more

  • IVY 300 guitar
Awesome Guitar!! Only had to tune it up. Intonation was perfect and plays like a dream. And it's beautiful too. So glad I got it.

  • Mostly great out of the box
I have been curious about these guitars for a while. I have played acoustic exclusively over the years, and since the pandemic, I have become serious about improving again. I needed an electric and since I want to play primarily blues and jazz, I was looking at semi-hollow body guitars for a LONG time online. Man, they can get pricey. I was courting the Grote but loved the look of this guitar so much more. So, when it became available, I went for it. A few things I immediately noticed: 1. the finish on the guitar was clean right out of the box. No scratches or blemishes. 2. The binding on the f-holes is messy, but, from a distance, no one can even see it. Definitely not a deal breaker for $200. 3. The tuners are, well, not great. I have purposely not changed the stock strings on the guitar and I have been playing it for a month. They are not my first choice but I wanted to see how the factory setup played over time. I have new strings now. That may fix some of the issues. 4. The frets are smooth on the edges but need a polish pretty badly. 5. The fretboard is well crafted and the inlays are clean. It needs oil though. It's pretty dry. 6. The wood grain on my guitar is interesting - it runs diagonally across the guitar. This seems weird to me as most of the time it either runs vertically or horizontally. Doesn't look bad, but it's just weird. 7. The electronics are pretty good so far. The tone pots are not very responsive but I have a crappy practice amp so it I am probably not a good judge. 8. The action was set perfectly for me right out the box, but the intonation needs to be adjusted across all strings. I will do that after I change the strings. Overall I am happy with the purchase. It sounds great through the amp and I am to dial in a pretty classic jazz sound on the neck pickup. The middle position provides a punchy yet clean blues sound. The guitar really feels good in my hands. It's easy to play. Even with a $100 set up from my local tech this guitar will be a great value. I will own it for a long time I think. If you have a few Franklins hanging around, I don't think you will be pissed off that you threw them at IYV for this guitar. ... show more

  • Great buy for the money
This guitar is playable right out of the box. Action was low and didn’t require raising the strings but I did replace them with flat wounds. The pickups are far better than expected and very useful. The overall finish was very nice and well done. There were no fret burs and the neck was flat and intonation was very good. ... show more

  • For this price?? Deserves better than 5 stars, just a great guitar at a great price
Holy cow, what a great deal. Got this guitar many months ago, been enjoying it without a pro set-up so much, I forgot to review this. I've bought a couple more guitars in the time since, including an expensive Jackson, and I have to come back to this fairly cheap purchase and praise it. Better than the Jackson, though they are different types of guitar, this is gorgeous, stays in tune, no fret buzz straight from the factory, great tone. Having to learn, finally, how to make all the adjustments to truss rods, nut and fret and bridge heights, but not because of this instrument: it's dialed in. It's those other purchase that have me looking at becoming a part-time luthier. Want to get a specific style of tremolo bridge for it next. ... show more
