I am a just a beginner guitar player. When I started looking for an electric guitar I spoke to my son, who has owned and played guitars for years. He turned me in the direction if IYV guitars, saying that he had learned over time from both personal experience and contacts within the guitar community that this company made exceptional instruments at a modest price point. I settled on this IYV-ILP-400 as the guitar I wanted to buy. It arrived yesterday. All I can say is that I am floored at how beautiful this guitar is. It is absolutely stunning. I could find no finish defects at all. It has a beautifully constructed one piece neck with a seamless integration into the body. There is nice banding around the body and up to the headstock that is also seamless and applied beautifully. The bookend grain pattern on the body veneer is absolutely lovely, as is the gloss finish on the body. The back of the body and the back of the neck are dark cherry in color and again I could find no flaws. The action is low right out of the box. The strings were "loose" in that they were all playing flat when I tuned it up with my Fender app, but they had all been partially tuned well enough that the app recognized the key of each string from the outset. The neck is straight and smooth with very nice (plastic I assume) inlays for fret markers. Nicely done and very attractive. The frets are smooth and the fret ends are as smooth as the edges on our kitchen Quartz countertops. Just lovely! The manufacture date is 12/2024 so this is a new guitar and not old-new stock that is often sold on eBay and other sites...which can be a good value but sometimes when a guitar sits for years in a warehouse things happen. All I can say is that my son was correct. These IVY guitars punch WAY above their weight class. I cannot believe such a beautiful instrument can be produced and shipped to my door for $187.00. But it is. Don't hesitate - this is a great guitar. The photos I posted with this review in new way depict how beautiful this guitar is, nor do those on the Amazon website. Also, please note that most of the Amazon photos show single dot fret markers, but as you can see this guitar actually comes with beautiful trapezoid shaped inlays. As a side note, I understand that the Inyen Vina (IYV) guitar company is a Korean based company who has a manufacturing plant in Viet Nam where they produce these beautiful guitars. My further understanding is that they produce guitars for the Mitchell brand that Guitar Center Stores sell and for other brands as well. Obviously, they produce a line under their own IYV nameplate as well.

This is a great guitar and is more valuable than the asking price, in my opinion. I couldn't find anything major wrong with the setup, and it played well right out of the box. The only thing that I did to it was polish the frets with a fine grade sanding sponge, oiled the fretboard, and changed the strings. As far as the 3 knobs go, I figured that the middle knob would be the master volume, and the left and right knobs would be the tone controls for each humbucker, but that's not the case. So if you have the guitar on your lap and are looking down at the knobs, the knob functions are as follows. If you have the selector switch in the down position (bridge), then the middle knob is the volume, and the right knob is the tone. The left knob had no function. If the selector switch is in the middle position (bridge and neck), the middle knob is the volume, and the left and right knobs operate the tone for each humbucker. The knob closest to the humbucker is the tone control for that humbucker. If your selector switch is in the up position (neck), then the left knob operates the volume, and the right knob operates the tone. The middle knob had no function. It took some experimenting to figure the knobs out, but this is how the knobs function, at least on the guitar that I received. This guitar really impressed me at the $187 price point, and I've made it my goal to purchase the rest of the IYV (Inyen Vina) guitar models. I'm very happy with these CNC machined guitars, and it was well worth the money!

This is the 5th IYV guitar I've bought and kept. Unbelievable guitar for the price. I've ordered and sent back several other models because they felt cheap. This one is definitely a keeper!

I hate to rate this guitar because I really like the other IYV that I bought (IP-350 TBK). That one was very well set up out of the box with no apparent blemishes or any problems whatsoever. This one however came to me with scratches, dings, rusted strings and the intonation is not very close at all. (Rusted strings. Really?). I think it was possibly sold and returned. I mean I paid for a new one. I don’t want to return it because I’m concerned that the next one might be worse. Maybe I had my expectations too high because of all of the reviews that I’ve read and how nice the other one is. Aside from the scratches I can fix it up. I was excited to receive it then I was just disappointed. I planned on getting a couple more of them with confidence. Now I have a level of doubt. I will fix it up and come back with an update and maybe change the rating. I’m pretty sure I just got the guitar that was made on a Friday around the end up the month at quitting time and they were just trying to get home to the cookout. EDIT: it turns out that The neck is perfect. It was set right at the factory. . After changing strings and some adjustments the harmonics are dialed in perfectly. Wiring is good and The pickups sound great. Buffed out the scratches pretty well. It’s a keeper for sure. I am very happy with it now.
