    • Door handle very difficult to install.

We don't know yet how the cooler holds the temperature because we have been opening and closing the door to put on the handle. 1st we went to put in the screws and they were not going in straight. After much difficulty got the screws out. The bottom one went in(with difficulty) and the top one, the screw fell thru to the bottom of frig. Unable to get out. Looking for another screw at the hardware store. Although you can open the door without the handle, the point is that the cooler is made to use a handle.     • Holds a lot of wine in a compact space...

Bottom line: Looks good, reasonably quiet and doesn't take up too much space. We got this wine refrigerator a few months ago for two reasons. We like our red wine cold and we wanted to free up space in our fridge. When we buy a case of wine, we just put the entire case into this wine refrigerator. Then if we've forgotten to put a bottle in the fridge, we always have a cold bottle ready to go. The only space we really had for this wine refrigerator was in our breakfast area. We sit there every morning, talk and have coffee. It does make some noise when running but it isn't an annoying sound and it doesn't disrupt our conversations. It's no more than 3-4' (approx. 1 meter) from where we are sitting. It's footprint is about 18" deep x 13.5 wide" (14.7cm x 34.3cm). It quickly cools the wine down (we have it set to the minimum temperature 41 degrees). I have noticed that it creeps up to 45 degrees on the display before the compressor turns on. It's probably a good thing though - better that it's on long enough to cool the wine down but not turning off and on constantly all day trying to keep the temperature precisely at 41 degrees. We've only had the cooler for about 2 weeks, but so far it has been great. After letting it sit upright for a few hours as directed, we plugged it in, and within an hour our 1st bottle of wine was chilling. We love it!

About two thirds of standard-sized wine bottles in my wine inventory do not readily fit in the Ivation 12 Bottle Compressor Wine Cooler Refrigerator. Chardonnay wine bottles, in particular, do not fit in several of the available positions. The top rack does not accommodate the chardonnay wine bottles at all. The bottles can only be inserted partially, before scraping the inside top of the refrigerator, preventing full insertion (as shown in the photos). On the four intermediate-level racks, two chardonnay wine bottles do not fit on a single rack in parallel orientation, with both bottles pointing toward the front of the refrigerator. Rather, two chardonnay wine bottles only fit on a rack if one bottle points toward the front and one bottle points toward the back (anti-parallel orientation). The bottom slanted rack can only accommodate one standard chardonnay wine bottle plus one low-profile red wine bottle, but not two chardonnay wine bottles simultaneously. The maximum number of Simi chardonnay wine bottles that can fit in the refrigerator is 9. Taken together, these limitations are annoying, compromise display aesthetics and reduce the overall utility of the refrigerator. Regarding temperature issues, I set the temperature at 57 degrees Fahrenheit, as a compromise, for storage of both white (optimal storage temperature range: 46-56 degrees) and red (optimal temperature storage range: 58-68 degrees) wines, in a single refrigerator. However, the temperature fluctuates widely, between 57 and 62 degrees, about every 5 minutes, with an estimated 288 temperature fluctuations per day. Due to these fluctuations, the average temperature reading on the thermostat is around 59.5 degrees, although the accuracy of the thermostat, as well as the temperature uniformity throughout the unit, are questionable. The insulating properties of the refrigerator seem to be almost nonexistent, similar to a cardboard box, with a rudimentary cooling system and cheap thermostat. I anticipate a substantial increase in my electricity bill, due to this inefficient refrigerator. Ordered this cooler for our home. Arrived a bit dinged up and without a manual. In retrospect, it was probably used. Waited overnight to plug it in and then installed. Not working right out of the gate. Temp never got below 76 F. Tried unplugging, resetting, etc to no avail. Called the sellers 'CS' number to be curtly moved through install questions until they found an issue that would void the warranty. For me, I told them I only had 6" on each side of the installed area. (See pic). Agent interrupts me to say I needed at least 10" and that cost me the warranty. I tried to explain that the unit never turned on to begin with, only to be interrupted and spoken over. Would not recommend this product to anyone. Look at the other brands. ... show more
