The photos attached are after a long day of farmwork, because my husband does a good deal of diverse, heavy labor outdoors most of the year and getting him to hold still long enough to snap a photo before they were covered in mud was an impossible task! Recently we’ve found that he destroys even good-quality footwear pretty fast…faster if it’s NOT great quality. For example, last night he had to wade two feet deep into a pond wearing cheap rain boots to rescue a wayward duck. He had only worn them a few times, yet when he reached the deepest depth, he realized there was a leak in the side of one of the boots and it quickly filled with freezing water. Those were his last pair of boots, thankfully, this pair arrived just in time yesterday, so he decided to give them a try today. I immediately discovered that I’d ordered them a half size too big. I wasn’t sure how they ran, so I ordered an 11.5 instead of his usual 11–usually a safe bet with sneakers but these boots were slightly large. It was nothing a pair of thick wool socks couldn’t fix. The boots slipped on and off easily and were comfortable, so he left for a day of offsite jobs, with weather in the 40s and abundant muck from recent heavy rain. His review of the day: The day started off with a group assembly task which involved some standing around waiting for others to move parts into position. By the end, I noticed my toes getting a little cold but the boots had good grip and remained comfortable. Then it was on to a rural property where we moved large logs and split firewood, then filled buckets of crushed stone to patch potholes in the driveway. Finally, I fabricated parts for a furniture repair, going in and out of a client’s home over and over again, with the boots going on and off each time. During these tasks, my toes stayed toasty and my feet stayed dry, even when I was squishing gravel into muddy ruts filled with water. As the workday ended, I realized I hadn’t really been conscious of these boots at all…they hadn’t required a breaking-in period and were perfectly comfortable all day. Since they don’t have much insulation, I probably won’t wear them much in the snow or in below-freezing weather, but as a slip-on boot that keeps my toes dry, they will get a lot of use around the farm and at job sites. If you're looking for an authentic cowboy boot you're looking in the wrong place. These boots are made from simulated leather with a slick plastic sole, and wouldn't last long working a farm. If you're looking for an inexpensive fashion statement, though, this is a pretty good option. As far as simulated leather goes it's soft and flexible. It was tough to get them on and off the first time, but after a couple of goes the "leather" stretched accordingly. Construction is sturdy - real stitches and not glue - with a solid toe and a traditional embroidery pattern. There's not a lot of padding inside but the sole is nicely contoured to provide arch support - they feel like a standard men's dress shoe. I wouldn't want to run a 5k in them or anything, but they're comfortable enough for a night out, even if it involves line dancing. Sizing runs a little bit large. I had a lot of play in the toe compared to my usual size 10, and they are noticeably wider. This may just be the way boots are supposed to fit. ... show more

With boot shopping, I always order a half size down from my sneaker size and this is mo exception. I wear size 13 sneakers and ordered a 12.5 in these. They are still a little loose (width wise) but comfortable. I think a size 12 might be too short in toe length for me. The top opening also feels unnecessarily wide to me, but I usually wear a different style of boots and that may be my own bias opinion. They have a minimalistic design which I appreciate and look elegant paired with jeans. My only complaint is I wish they were genuine leather, but at this price you really can't complain. ... show more

Very attractive and comfortable, even if they are just a tad too big for me. It is really okay because the pants over the boot will cover that up. The dark color is more my style and the look is true cowboy.
