  • Reading with a purpose
Getting young people to read is crucial for their intellectual development. When books for young people also have a lesson about life; it is a bonus. Bair does an excellent job in putting practical ideas in a format young people enjoy and understand and learn which makes this book a great gift for an avid young reader. My granddaughter will love it. By the way, I read it carefully myself so as to be able to answer questions she may have about the content. I hope I get my car washed at a discount! ... show more

  • Best business book for kids
My parents taught me the concepts of investment when I was a child. So now my turn - I was looking for some books to teach my 6 year old some basic business concepts. Someone gave me a list so I picked up a few. This book is in the list so I thought it was one of those kids lemonade stand type. What's the harm? When the book arrives it completely amazes me! It talks about concepts of cost and profits, investors, business management, business negotiation, and even stocks, in terms kids can understand and relate to. However if you are in business school you can understand and relate to the concepts as well. The book is very well written and fun to read. I then decide to check out the author. I looked at the name and laughed. I did not know Sheila Bair writes children's books! It beats all the business books I read while I was in college. ... show more

  • a new classic
This has become by grandkids (7 & 10) favorite "read to me" book. It teaches finance, responsibility, and teamwork without being preachy. My kids love the this story of success.

  • good read
My daughter fell in love with this book the day we first got it for her from our library. It teaches kids money-related concepts in a simplified way.

  • How did Isabel end up with $20???
5 station wagons, 2 mini-vans, 3 punch buggies, 3 conveetibles, 1 truck, 1 golf cart, 2 pedal cars, 1 go-cart, and a dog = 19. Isabel charges $1 each and somehow ends up with $20. Did she receive a gratuity? Did she end up charging $2 for the dog? Great message but seems to get lost as my kids spent more time trying to figure out how she ended up with more money than she "earned".... ... show more

  • Love it
My grandniece is named Isabel, so I am getting her books with main characters who share her name. She seems to love them, though she is quite young. It is a lovely book.
