  • Not contractor grade. Harry homeowner
These are not for daily commercial use. The head is way too big and bulky considering all that it really is needed for. The grip is way too wide and the handles are too thick. Nothing like a Klein side cutter. Every single manufacturer should try to make it like a copy of the Klein linesman‘s pliers. They are the industry standard. And there’s a reason for that. If I can get a copy that is very similar to Klein for half the price, I would be glad to buy it. These were much cheaper. At $16, that is excellent value. All they would have to do is change their layout. It would even take less steel to make it. They do not come with a fish tape puller, a bolt cutter, or any other extras. This is for harry homeowner only. ... show more

  • Surprise Home Run for IRWIN!
IRWIN's 9-1/2" Linesman Pliers compete with the Best! Heavy-duty, pro tool that operates smoothly, has very comfortable grips, cuts 12 awg wire like butter and has a vice grip of steel. Far superior to most other pliers of this type but offered at a very low price. AMAZON Prime delivered them to me in record time. However, my biggest gripe with AMAZON is that in their rush to deliver their products at increasingly faster times, the often fail to properly protect the contents. I have received delicate items merely thrown into a plastic sleeve on more than one occasion. If you have a similar complaint, perhaps you can relate your experience to AMAZON so that our voices are heard. ... show more

  • Great all-purpose
I had a gap in my toolbox--have 2 visegrips, 2 needle, ratchet, monkey, etc. but didn't have a heavy-duty set of pliers for the torque-heavy jobs. These pliers are great at biting into metal and using the leverage to remove stubborn screws, nuts, bolts, and snapping off unneeded metal. They came well-greased, and the handle is rather comfortable. Long usage times can cause cramps, and it's definitely not designed for someone whose hands are on the smaller size. These are great all-purpose pliers. ... show more

  • Highly recommended
These are heavily made pliers. I bought them to add to my automotive tool box and will work great for firmly gripping items or cutting thick/hard items. However as an electrician I wouldn't suggest these because the head is extremely wide making them heavy and hard to slip into tool pouch. They are a nice addition to a typical tool box for the price. They operate easily, cutter is sharp and the jaw serrations are very sharp which is great for good grip. I highly recommend these for general purpose use. ... show more

  • Tough And Heavy Duty Wire Cutters.
This wire cutter exceeded my expectations. It is very heavy and well engineered. I am replacing an old wire cutter that I have had for maybe 20 years or more. This plyer, based on my experience, will probably last as long as the old one. Good solid purchase. Please note that there is not a wire stripper for taking the end off a insulated wire. I did not want that feature. I will be using mine for fence and mechanical repairs. ... show more

  • Not comfortable
I guess I was surprised to see how bulky these were. They were bigger than my last pair. My last pair was black handled craftsman and were 8 inches. I didn’t realize there was different sizes of linesman pliers. I wish I would’ve gotten 8 inch ones. My biggest complaint is the comfort level. The handle is too far apart and not comfortable to hold. I ripped the bulky grips off and bent the handles toward each other after heating it up with a torch. ... show more

  • Be careful, the pliers i received seemed fake.
They looked suspect when I received it today, so I went out and bought the same item from the big box store. When placed side by side, the logos are different, the real one is more angular and beveled. the amazon one has yellow piping missing, the grooving in the teeth are not cleanly cut. The real one has "always use eye protection", etched into the handle, while this one does not. Every Irwin tool I have has the part number etched somewhere and this has nothing. I can only conclude its a cheap knock-off. I've included pictures, the one from amazon on the left the one from the big box hardware store on the right ... show more

  • Solid, large pliers
These are really big pliers. Really not comfortable to carry around, but sometimes big pliers are what you want. They provide a lot of leverage for squishing things though. I've used them for flattening a few pieces of sheet metal and pulling half-crimped connectors off (while figuring out how to use new crimpers). ... show more
