The IRWIN QUICK-GRIP 100 Series 6-inch C-Clamp uses a double-rolled thread for faster clamping and increased durability and features a larger swivel pad to reduce marring on work surfaces and increase stability. A larger handle gives greater clamping pressure with less effort and reduced hand fatigue. From the Manufacturer The IRWIN 6" C-Clamp 100 Series has many improvements over the competitions. The handle is bigger which makes it 25% easier to apply torque. This feature will reduce hand fatigue and make it easier to apply force. The double threaded screw allows you to create 50% more pressure than the nearest competitor. This will reduce hand fatigue and make it easier to apply force. The double threaded screw will give you 50% less screw deflection which will save you time by reducing drift.

I used these to push the break pistons back on an Audi Q5. The break piston assembly was quite big, and it cleared the thick metal housing to press on the pads. It was strong enough for this purpose and did not distort or fail. The paint finish did chip off after a few use, but if you are using it indoors and keeping it dry, it should not be a problem. I have had it for many years, and it did not rust where the paint chipped. This is not for smaller jobs because the clamp is heavy. It is not meant for projects like holding pipes since the pipe would loosen and be a hazard. It is not designed for this purpose. The stainless head is on swivel, so it can clamp things that are not parallel to the large C portion. The small thin rod for tightening and unscrewing the press is little weak. It you have to really force the clamp screw it might bend and possibly break. Use caution. It is great for clamping flat objects to a working table. That is what this is designed for.     • Heavy Duty Clamp with Chipped Paint

These clamps are heavy duty (4 of them weigh about 5 pounds). The clamp mechanism is solid & works well. The bar to turn the screw is large, for an easy grip & tightening, & the head of the push part swivels, to make for a better grip on the item being held. The finish of the head of the push part is smooth & level, unlike many other clamps I've owned, so it grips better & doesn't damage the item being held. My only complaint is that all 4 of my clamps arrived with the paint coating chipping in numerous spots, & I received paint "splinters" in my skin. This forces me to either sand the clamps or to wear protective gloves while using them, neither of which should be necessary. The paint chipping may have been due to poor packing by the seller, but most of my clamps in normal situations are going to be dropped onto cement sooner or later, & the paint shouldn't chip off as easily as is the case with these clamps. I have other brands of clamps where the paint has remained intact after years of use (Jorgensen, for example). ... show more

    • The best C-Clamps I've ever owned!!

I regularly use C-Clamps at my company. Many of the clamps I've had for years have fallen apart, lost the screw-tab thing or have become bent. When I decided to buy some new clamps, I looked at many products and read hundreds of reviews before deciding on these Irwin 4" clamps. These clamps are without a doubt the best clamps I've ever owned. They were priced on the upper-end of the scale for 4" clamps...there are cheaper clamps available. However, if you need a sturdy clamp and if you tend to be hard on your tools like I am, these are worth every penny. I don't write reviews often...I just wanted to let others know how really good these are. Last week I purchased more Irwin clamps...the 5" type...they seem to be great as well.
