There is a smell to these. Not sure what it is. We use these for bedding and out of season clothes, but when we open them up we have to re-wash the clothes and bedding because of the smell. That being said, we also use it for electronic cords and other items and supplies. These are wonderful and sturdy and we will be using them to store dishes as well. It is nice that they are see through as well so you can see what's inside. And we like these thinner ones so they aren't to heavy when full and so that items don't get buried so far down.     • Amazing bins but there are some quality control issues!

These are amazing storage bins. They have revolutionized how I store things because they are truly airtight and keep out moisture and pests thanks to the foam seal and clamps. I love them. But occasionally you can get a bad batch, so it's important to inspect them when they arrive. Recently I received some that had small cracks in various places and the plastic "hinges" that hold the black clamps in place were broken/not fully formed or the holes were not punched through all the way so the clamps wouldn't stay in place (which means you can't seal the bin shut). I have also received ones with clamps missing. I don't think these are shipping damage but rather quality control issues. Most of the bins I've ordered have been in perfect condition but some have been defective -- maybe 25% of the time -- and I've returned them. So just double check -- and IRIS maybe work on your quality control! But amazing product when they aren't defective or damaged. Also know that the wheel bed on the 103 quart bins with wheels are weak points. I had a few that cracked after a year or so. Granted they were full and we stacked them so there was a lot of weight on the bottom ones. So if you get those, maybe don't stack them. Also sometimes the foam liner comes out -- would be great if these were glued into the top. But you could easily get some double-sided tape and tape them in or glue them yourself. ... show more

They look and feel sturdy. When I received them the very bottom container one of its latches was broken off. No it can’t be fixed the actual nipple that attaches in the hole is broken off.

    • Solid storage. Solid lid closure. Used in my garage. See thru so I can easily view contents.

There are 4 snap on closures securing the lid to the base. There are pegs that are part of the closures that are too weak and easily breakoff, rendering that snap on closure useless. I broke one and one came broken off in the box. Do better. These are EXPENSIVE.
