So, let me just say, that I’ve had my iPad Pro 9.7 forever, and while it keeps rolling along with no need to replace it or upgrade, the keyboards I’ve had for it have not been so long-lived, and it is getting harder and harder to find the perfect keyboard that fits my aging ipad. The thing is, I loved my last keyboard, but when it stopped working after 3 years, it was time to go find another, and because I’ve been spoiled, I had several non-negotiables that I was looking for: 1). I’m not the most organized or graceful person - so a detachable keyboard was not going to work for me. It was only going to get dropped, lost, or who knows what. 2) I needed to be able to type like on a laptop, but also needed to be able to easily use it as a tablet and comfortably write on it with the Apple Pencil. And I needed to be able to do so without popping it out of anything or removing parts that I could then drop or lose (see #1 above). 3) It needed to have a place to keep the Apple Pencil securely with my ipad. And I wasn’t too crazy about the idea of the ones where the pencil was covering the power button on the ipad. That seemed like it would get annoying fast. Those three things were amazingly hard to find all in one case that would fit the iPad Pro 9.7! After hours of searching and reading reviews, I finally selected this one, and I’ve now had it for a couple of days. I will say that when I first got it, I hated it and was sure that I was going to send it back. But that was because when I opened it, the hinge was very stiff (which is a good thing) and seemed to stop at the 90 degree position. And while I could rotate the screen, I couldn’t lay it flat like a tablet. Then I realized that it really wasn’t even open the full 90 degrees - more like 85 degrees, and that made me even more unhappy - so I started trying to open to the full 90 degrees, and realized that I needed to apply just a little more pressure than felt comfortable, and it would go the full 180 degrees, and could then rotate back over the keyboard like a tablet. So, with the big problem solved, I’ve been using the tablet, and really only have a couple of complaints - and those are things that I think I will be able to adjust to: 1) As I had read in a previous review, where you would traditionally have the a double-sized right shift key, they’ve instead left the right shift key as a normal size, and placed it on the very end of the row, with the page up key just to the left of it. Guess where my finger always strikes the right shift key on a normal keyboard? Apparently on the left end of that double-sized key - which is now page up. It is going to take awhile to train my finger to stretch out further. I’ve already hit page up 4 times while typing this review! (I had to slow down and really think about it when I typed that exclamation mark just now! ) 2) This case definitely has some weight to it. My previous keyboard/cases were feather-light, so it makes this one seem really heavy in comparison. But again, it really isn’t THAT heavy, and I will adjust. 3) The special function keys on the top row are kind of nice. I will say that the lock key doesn’t seem to do anything on my ipad, but I wonder if that’s more because of the ipad than the keyboard. It really doesn’t matter to me - just mentioning it. I have no problem ignoring that key’s existence :-) Overall, it seems to be a solid keyboard/case option. Since I have only had it for 2 days, I can’t really speak to the battery life yet - except I have not yet had to charge it. We’ll see how it goes. UPDATE: I have now had the case for almost 6 months. I have gotten used to the placement of the shift key. A crack has developed in the keyboard next to the caps lock key. It has had one or two pretty significant falls. While the keyboard has a small crack, my ipad is fine - so I guess it did it’s job. The pencil holder loop is still there. Unfortunately, I need to buy a new Apple Pencil, because mine fell out of the loop and I haven’t been able to find it. The hinge is still tight. Unfortunately, whenever I go to lift open the ipad from a closed position, the ipad pops out of the case due to the pressure I’m applying on the edge to move the hinge. Overall, still not in love with the case, but still think it was the closest option out there to what I wanted. 6 MONTH UPDATE: I was just given a new ipad as a gift from work, so gave my old one to my son, who didn’t want the pink case (go figure). So this case will no longer be used. But as I look at it sitting here, less than 6 months after I bought it: 1) All 4 rubber feet have fallen off 2) It has cracks in both the lid and keyboard side 3) I lost my apple pencil cause the loop didn’t hold it securely 4) The ipad kept popping out every time I opened the case. I would never buy this case again. In fact, for my new ipad, I had to break down and buy one with the detachable keyboard, but at least it won’t crack and it holds my new Apple Pencil securely, so I guess it’s just the trade off I have to make. ... show more

I bought this keyboard as a replacement for my previous keyboard of the same style. The previous keyboard has a rather strong spring arrangement to keep the screen in the position you place it. The plastic cracked at screen hinge and then split open rendering the keyboard non-positional. The purchased warranty took care of the issue and replaced the keyboard. These keyboards have great features and the keys feel great. One issue this replacement keyboard has is that he forward delete key combinations fn-Delete does not work. I haven’t been able to figure out if there is a work around. ... show more

This is my second iPad cover. I am not hard on usage and each time they have failed. Last time it was the keyboard, this time it has slight cracks that leave iPad loose at times. We received this keyboard and everything was working great. Then suddenly they left size of the keyboard started malfunctioning, it would mark symbols different than the keys pressed. I got in contact with the manufacture and after some basic diagnosis they realized it was malfunctioning and they just sent a replacement. The new one is working perfectly. How did I live without this devise for all these years?!? I just happened to be shopping for something on Amazon when a picture of this device popped up and the row of suggested items and I thought it was a new iPad with a keyboard built in. I was seriously looking at it thinking that I would love to have a keyboard attached to my iPad, guess I am going to have to upgrade to get that. Then I saw that it was a keyboard and case that your own iPad fits INto! I knew instantly that I had to have one, but hoped they came for my 2018 model, and sure enough they did! I received it today and I am typing this review on it right now. The iPad integrates so perfectly into it that you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a small laptop just by looking at it. My husband even walked by and asked if I got a mini laptop. I had to pop the iPad out to show him this cool new toy. I absolutely Love it! I can believe no one shared this with me before…I would have bought it in a minute. The keyboard is small, but most of the functions are just like a regular keyboard. But it is easy to get use to quickly and start typing away using all of my fingers not just two. I love the backlighting of the keys and being able to pick the color and the brightness to suite my preference. I just have to keep reminding myself that there is no mouse pad below the space bar and that my little monitor is my ‘touch screen’ iPad, LOL. The battery only took about 2 hours to fully charge and I have been on it typing away on things for a few hours and it is still going strong. The two integrated so well together that it is seamless. You wouldn’t know that it is two separate devices. Set up was just about as easy as it gets, other than waiting for the battery to get its first full charge, I was up and running in less than 3 minutes. Whoever thought up this cool device deserves an award, I am so very happy now! ... show more
