    • The 'Pear Yellow' Looks Like Maple Wood - Fantastic Shelves for the Price!

This is my sixth time buying these shelves, they are that good! A couple years ago I purchased the mint green and blue with the baseboard bottoms, but this review is for the 'pear yellow' with legs. Firstly, I'm not sure why it's called 'pear yellow' because the picture is accurate in showing a faux wood grain similar to maple. It looks fantastic! These shelves are incredibly easy to assemble and I have assembled them without any help. They only use a single kind of screw, the instructions are very easy, and when finished these shelves are wonderfully sturdy. Honestly, for the price, these shelves beat more expensive options from places like IKEA or other economy sellers. I was really impressed that now the maker is color dipping the tops of the screws so it matches the furniture (in the past the screw heads were hidden with little dot stickers that matched the furniture). I was really pleased with the legs - it will make vacuuming under them easy. If you're looking for some easy to assemble, pretty, sturdy shelves, do not hesitate to buy these! ... show more

OK, so first impression out of the box I thought that the boards for the bookcase looked too thin. I was really scared that they weren’t going to be able to hold the weight of books that I own. I was debating on returning because I just didn’t trust it while I was holding the boards in my hands. I decided to give it a shot anyway because I was tired of my books just sitting in moving boxes and taking up space. I purchased two of these bookcases because my room has sloping walls so a regular bookcase wouldn’t have fit height wise. I was pleasantly surprised and was definitely proven wrong in this case. I like the fact that the bookcase came with screws to keep everything together instead of those tiny wood dowels. Usually when items come with the dowels I end up having to use wood glue in order to keep everything together so that it doesn’t just fall apart, plus it’s messy and takes awhile to dry. So this was a definite positive it makes it seem a lot sturdier and doesn’t look like it’ll fall apart easily. The only thing that I used the wood dowels for was for the bottom baseboard which came with 2 of them. It also had screws on the sides to keep the baseboard together. Instructions are easy to understand and all the pieces are clearly labeled so just make sure you are paying attention to that. It comes with a little Allen wrench but unless you want to be building this the ENTIRE day I’d suggest getting a drill. This can definitely be done by one person and a power tool. However, I would recommend two people do it since the boards might need to be held in place while you work on one side at a time. Seeing as I was by myself I just used the wall to stabilize it while I drilled away. I did not use the shelf board backing and left it open backed instead. Took off a star because it just felt too flimsy and pointless tbh and it looks nicer without. It took me a little over an hour to build the first one because I had to stop a few times to give my dog some scratches and petting otherwise he would be standing on the materials I was using🙄 he’s needy in case y’all didn’t realize and also kind of an a-hole when he doesn’t get attention (we think he was a cat in another life). 2nd one took me about 30min to build once I set him up with a treat puzzle toy and somewhere where he could see me lol. All in all really great bookcase. It shouldn’t take too long to build as long as you don’t have distractions etc. ... show more

4.5 stars, half a star deducted for the slightly wobbly aspect. However, color is beautiful! Holds a lot of books! Nice sleek slim design in our foyer hallway means more space to get by. Assembly wasn’t difficult. We would purchase again.

This bookshelf was hands down the easiest piece of furniture I’ve ever put together! The instructions were clear, easy to follow, there weren’t a ton of pieces to put together, and it probably took me 30 minutes to complete. Bonus- the screws match the color of the bookshelf as well so they blend in & don’t stand out (feature I didn’t know I wanted)! My only ‘con’- which I use lightly because not everyone will buy this for kids, is if it’s used for children it definitely should be anchored to the wall! ... show more

I love the design and color of this bookcase, and purchased two for my daughter's playroom. I was pretty disappointed to find that a lot of the pieces have scratches and brown marks on them. I would've returned if this had been for anywhere else in my home, but since I know kids are going to be hard on it anyways, I kept it. I do think it's overpriced for the quality. $100 maybe, but $150 is too much for what you get. Pros: Color and design are pretty, unique, and aesthetic! The piece seems sturdy. Comes with wall anchors for anti-tipping Cons: Scratched pieces, screws showing everywhere (wooden dowels and cam screws would be so much better). The back pieces don't have pre-marked holes or anything to help line it up, which made it difficult to get the nails into the unit sometimes. Make sure when you put it together, you examine each piece for the best side to face out. All in all, it's fine for kids, but this wouldn't go anywhere else in my home because the quality is not there with all of the scratches and screws showing. ... show more

Love these bookcases! Cute, with a modern esthetic that fits a range of decor situations. We had very specific space parameters that needed to be met. Our tight, narrow location required bookcases that weren’t too wide (we needed access to open drawers and doors from side cupboards); couldn’t be too tall (wired-in sconces already in place); and they couldn’t stick out too far (or they’d touch the rug and in-floor door stop). After measuring and remeasuring, we crossed our fingers and bought two. They arrived in excellent shape, with fairly clear instructions and plenty of extra screws. We did use a drill for some of the assembly to pre-drill some of the holes. The tool they included for installing the screws was a knuckle banger (aren’t they always?!), but my husband was very patient - this is why he’s the rock solid assembly dude, and I am the still-clever but apt-to-get-frustrated assistant! He also had the smart idea to book match our two cases, so the shelves would mirror each other - a great idea if you’re placing them on either side of a door, like we did. Our cases aren’t holding a lot of weight, but seem plenty sturdy. The color is a true, but warm, white that is both bright and fresh.
