    • Almost Perfect but Has One Major Flaw

This was almost perfect as the storyboard pages have been extremely helpful in organizing and visualizing my story. The one big flaw is that these storyboard layouts are the wrong proportion for actual comic book page proportions. I'm not sure why they chose to do this as the drawing frames they provided in this sketchbook are completely different proportions than the storyboard layouts. I've resorted to modifying the storyboard layouts myself so they're more proportional to the drawing frames. This has proven to be an inconvenience. If the proportions were the same for both types of pages, this would be a five star product. As it stands though, while I'll continue to use this, I'll be looking elsewhere for better storyboard layout paper once I'm through with this sketchbook. ... show more

I have been looking for a good notebook to do thumbnails and page layouts in and have run into the issue of not having enough information to go off of. I took a chance with this one based on the positive reviews and I'm very happy with what I got. The notebook is pretty sturdy, with a nice hardcover and an elastic closure band. The sticker comes off super easy, which is always a plus. I love how the paper feels. It's not super thick, but it's not thin enough that pen is going to just leak through. Somewhere in between mixed media paper and bristol, more towards the former I think, but with a smooth vellum finish. I like how the book includes both small layouts for thumbs/storyboards, and big pages with non-repro/non-photo blue lines. All of the pages are perforated to make for easier scanning. I was so pleased with this notebook, I ordered another one immediately without even having used the first one, because I know I'm going to fill this up immediately. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this review I am unable to add pics. Hopefully I'll be able to edit those in later, but for now I'll try to describe everything. It's 52 pages of storyboard layout grids, 4 per page and on both sides of the paper, with spaces for writing notes under each storyboard box. Then it's 60 pages (single-sided) of the drawing frames with rulers along the side in non-repro blue. This would be perfect for storyboarding and Manga scripts, which is exactly what I got it for. It's actually somehow bigger than I expected, but that's a plus. The cover is, in fact, a hard cover and the pages are smooth and relatively thick. I think it would handle many mediums with ease so long as you don't soak it it water. ... show more
