While I have read a lot of complaints about the sound, this is pretty quiet compared to the older big "air cleaners" that required filters and make a huge racket. This thing does have a fan, but it's not so noisy I can't fall asleep or anything. In fact, I don't notice it at all. The good points are the healthy way it cleans the air, the relatively low cost, the fact that it's super small and doesn't require changing bulbs, filters, and it's not spewing ozone into my home. I have had a few of these and right before they are eight or nine months old they start to make a noise even though they are cleaned on a regular basis. The brush that is provided does not get inside and clean as well as it should and then my allergies act up. It can’t be unscrewed to get inside and clean it even though that’s what is needed. I didn’t receive my last one on time and canceled it…too bad ... show more

    • Dissapointing but can join a long queue & noisy fan

Ok, the good - this does feel as though it freshens the air if you are directly in it's path with your face. Is it just the air from the fan or is it negions, given the fan is not so big I would give negions a chance so does a worthwhile but not brilliant job if you sit in line with the fan. The other plus is assuming the description is accurate, this unit does not produce any significant ozone which isn't healthy but is produced by many units On the flip side, the fan is annoyingly noisy, a bit like a laptop fan working medium hard. It does not do the whole small office room or indeed anything other than what is described above. I don't care how many negions it measures, all that matters is what effect it has. It doesn't dump any dust near the unit which these units usually do but that could be a plus from the fan. This is no different to other generators I have tried recently and in contrast to an Israeli one I used years ago tha really freshened the whole room. Also none of these units speak about replacing the emitting needle/s which I believe they all have and which usually needs cleaning/ replacement after a while. I would kill for my old unit again but doubt the company even exists. It didn't have or need a fan either. I still would like an equally effective unit if I could find one. I won't send this back because it works ok for my office use as described but i would never imagine using it to sleep by with that fan noise ... show more

I use this at night when I am sleeping. Used to wake up coughing and had to drink water. I don't know if it was from dust or cat hair but this is no longer the case. The air smells very fresh now at night when I used it.

Could sense better well-being sometimes after waking up When the humidity goes up there is I believe a higher mold count in our indoor air. This machine when running close to me seemed to help with better focus and energy some of the time when the mold count I believe causes me to have brainfog

I have placed one IonPacific ion box in the open kitchen/dining/living area and another in the master bedroom/bath. I plan to order two more to place in the office and guest bedroom. Even ordering that many the cost is so much less than a big, bulky air purifier with filters that have to be cleaned and/or replaced, and these are so compact that they can be placed and moved so easily! My allergies have settled down even tho pollen counts are still on the high side. I am a pleased customer and am recommending the ion box to others. ... show more

I usually don't fry hamburgers in the house, seems like the smell just lingers, but I noticed there was no smell so I blamed it on the IonPacific inbox. Definitely going to order a couple of more. I think they will be great to have for traveling too
