Description

The Invacare Solace Prevention Mattress (Model SPS1080) is a clinically engineered therapeutic foam mattress designed to deliver exceptional pressure redistribution and comfort for patients at low to moderate risk of pressure ulcers. Proudly Made in the USA, this 36" x 80" x 6" mattress fits seamlessly on standard twin hospital beds and supports up to 350 lbs. Zoned Dual-Layer Foam Technology The mattress features a sophisticated three-zone system: softer head and foot sections (36 IFD) gently cradle vulnerable areas, while the firmer middle zone (40.5 IFD) promotes proper spinal alignment. The top layer of high-resiliency foam excels at pressure alleviation, while the denser bottom layer provides stable, lasting support—working together to prevent skin breakdown and enhance patient comfort. Fortress Cellular Surface Exclusive Fortress-shaped cells with deep castellation cuts create a highly articulated surface that increases contact area, optimizes weight distribution, and promotes airflow to regulate skin temperature and reduce moisture buildup. This advanced topography helps minimize shear, friction, and heat—key factors in pressure injury prevention. Premium Protective Cover Encased in a durable, four-way stretch nylon top that’s soft against skin, the cover is fully fluid-resistant and features a welded flat zipper for superior waterproofing and easy cleaning. The bottom is coated with non-skid vinyl to keep the mattress securely in place. The cover is latex-free, DEHP-free, and flame-resistant—meeting rigorous healthcare safety standards. Ideal for home care, long-term care facilities, or post- acute recovery, the Invacare Solace Prevention SPS1080 combines clinical efficacy with everyday practicality. Easy to clean, highly durable, and backed by Invacare’s reputation for quality, this mattress helps caregivers provide safer, more comfortable rest for loved ones or patients. • 1 month in and a HUGE Difference/Relief for Mom
Size: 80" x 36" x 6" Style: NEW VERSION
The learning curve on taking care of my bedbound parent has been steep, but we all know that pressure wounds, a.k.a. bedsores are one of the most consistent challenges we caregivers face. Which is why I am hitting myself over the head that this wasn’t one of the first things I bought when the hospital bed was delivered to the house. For a parent that spends between 75 to 90% of their day in bed, I wish that chucking the standard foam/hard plastic mattress cover would have been more obvious to me. Ironically, we have been hyper vigilant about preventing bedsores, including various positioning, pillows, wedges, silicone foam bandages as cushions over areas like the tailbone, etc. But we never researched upgrading the mattress. When it finally clicked that we should look at a different mattress I spent a lot of time researching. I wanted to find something that would significantly reduce bedsore risk, provide better support for the neck and back areas and also stay much cooler than the default foam plastic mattress. I also didn’t want to break the bank. I finally settled on this mattress, mostly based on the customer reviews, and me pretending to understand how the dual foam and interlocking/individually cut pieces of foam work together to achieve all of the things that I wanted in a mattress. I also liked that the mattress cover itself was much softer while maintaining it wetness resisting capacity. And relatively speaking, this seemed like a reasonable price point as we caregivers know that the price tag on medical equipment can’t get out of control pretty fast. While we have only had the mattress in used for a month, I think it is safe to say that the mattress has definitely met all of my expectations. Mom has reported that her neck shoulders and back feel exponentially better, she no longer feels hot during the middle of the night, which means she no longer kicks off her support pillows or blanket, and amazingly, she says that she no longer feels the “pain in her ass” which is the high bedsore risk zone where the tailbone ends right where the skin is the thinnest. All in all I am very happy with the result and would recommend this to those looking for a meaningful upgrade in their hospital bed mattress without having to go ultra premium on the price. Good luck to all you caregivers out there!! ... show more

Bouth this mattress gor my elderly father's hospital bed. He has not complained once about it. He's sleeping well and through the night. Compared to other with a much higher sticker price this is well worth the purchase. Easy to clean!

  • Firm and supportive
Size: 80"x36"x6" Style: Updated
Much firmer than the soft mattress that came with the bed. More shoulder and back support.. it took me a few nights to adjust to the firmness and my body to respond, but, less shoulder and low back pain. Much easier to move around, due to the solid base and to get out of bed. I am pleased with the difference. ... show more
