Being able to keep an eye on home while away gives such peace of mind. Ring’s app is very intuitive and easy to use. Setup was flawless and also works in harmony with the Ring base station. I always get alerted to events as soon as they are happening so I can stay in the know. With the app, you can even set certain areas that the camera ignores so it won’t alert you, such as a road it is facing or a community sidewalk. I work at night, and the floodlights illuminate my surroundings when I walk to my car which further adds to my safety. And during the day, the sun tops up the charge so it stays on, never missing a thing. Without the solar panel, it still keeps a charge for over a month before needing topped up again on recommended settings. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the philips head screw you remove to access the battery cover on the bottom. I was shocked that they didn’t use the more secure Torx screws that are on the doorbells! It’s no big deal if it’s way high up off of the ground, but some cameras are forced to be at lower levels, so I feel like Ring needs to revise this on their next model and add the Torx screw for extra security. As the title says though, I could not imagine my home without my Ring cameras. They all give me such peace of mind and a sense of security should anything happen. I like that it has a good wide angle, it's a very useful camera. Only thing I keep having trouble with is the motion sensor. It either picks up nothing useful or doesn't pick up important events. I can never get the motion working right. This also causes the battery to run out faster.

I had spoken to co-workers who have cameras. The main grip is battery life. When I saw this camera with the solar panel, I wanted to give it a try. So far after a month, the battery is still charged at 100% I knew, I wanted the subscription plan ahead of time, nothing worthwhile is really free. The set up was easy, following the you tube instructions So far no complaints from me, it's been working as advertised ... show more

The Ring system is great and the solar panels ability to keep the battery charged is awesome. The problem is because the ring is technically not connected to a power source it limits the users ability on certain functions. Knowing that some will never use a cord and since it’s not designed like the spotlight the functions should be available to the user. Limiting the user choice to use this functions limits the protection the camera can actually provide. Ring failed on this one. ... show more

This camera works fantastic. The solar panel gets about a half days worth of sun and I have two batteries installed and it stays charged with everything turned up to the max for sensitivity. Very impressed. Also, in South Florida it rains literally every single day. Torrential downpours for hours and has been raining directly on the solar panel and camera. It works like brand new. I’m impressed with the water resistance. I wish this had pre roll like my ring doorbell camera. Sometimes when I get motion recordings, I’m missing some of the action. But not a biggie. ... show more
