Best air matress for guest room and/or to sleep on temporarly - hands down!
I've had this air-matress for a month now, and I have to say that it's absolutely amazing. About 1.5 years ago, I moved into the place that I'm currently living. I through-out my old mattress thinking that I'll buy me a new set as soon as I get the money. In doing so, I originally purchased Intex Raised Downy Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump, Queen, Bed Height 22" at my local Walmart as a temporary solution. However, I found that the airbed was so comfortable, that I wasn't in a rush to purchase a "real" mattress. Unfortunately, after having that one for just over a year, the seams started to come apart and left a huge bubble in the bed which made it uncomfortable to sleep in if you have more than one person - half of it is still quite usable. So after doing research, I decided that I wanted the same brand, just with horizontal seams as opposed to vertical, which is why I settled on the Comfort Plush Elevated... And so far it's been perfect. I do sleep in it every night, so I'm not sure of its durability of constantly having to re-blow it up after it's been in storage, however, I can say that over the month I've had it, I've only added air to it twice - once after the initial "settling" of the air, and once after about three weeks. Basically, this mattress holds air better than I expect - with my previous mattress, I had to add air 1-3 x's weekly, depending on the temperature. If you are looking for a nice, comfortable mattress for a guest room or even a temporary bed for yourself, I'd recommend this one because not only is it comfy, it has an amazing height, and it allows you the quality of sleeping in a real bed, without being a real bed. In addition, I've found that my queen-sized sheets and comforter fit it perfectly, and I was able to set it up within the frame of my bed, so unless I tell someone that I'm sleeping on an air mattress, they have no idea. ... show more

Disappointed to Very Pleased
A disappointment. The Airbed was ordered, based on the "Relax It's Not Leaking" data and the claim the Intex "stretches". Therefor, well in advance of it's use, we setup in a spare bedroom. Religiously, the Dura-Beam was checked and filled as suggested. Sadly, when used by holiday guests, by AM the firmness was lost and if too close to the beds edge you'd experience the feeling you may fall off. The concept is great, yet, if not functioning as intended, some one needs to investigate why. I ignored similar comments on inflation/deflation, my mistake. It appears we will have to return this item. To be fair, when "inflated" the bed felt comfortable to me and then guests. The sheets did stay on. The built in pump is incredible. If the refilling was not continuous and on going, we would keep this bedroom in a tote bag stored in the closet for future use. There may be a problem with this version. I noted, despite the size is queen, it sell for much less than the full size Intex Comfort Plush Elevated Dura-Beam Airbed. ================================= Update: The item was returned and a new one sent in it's place. Amazon can not be beat for their policies on returns. Thank you Amazon for being an honest cyber merchant. My hope is this mattress stays inflated for a reasonable amount of time before a booster shot of air is required. Will update this review after a fair amount of trial time with the replacement. When inflated, if it stays inflated for the night, it is a great spare bedroom in a box that is very comfortable. When deflating, the center appears to remain some what firm but the mattress starts to deteriorate from the edges inward. If you are near any of the edges you could be ejected to the floor while asleep. ================== January 19, 2017 UPDATE The replacement guest bed has been up/inflated since receiving. It has only needed two booster shots of air over the past 20 +/- days. For some reason ( and I have no idea if this is correct ) I felt the intake must be handled by some type of rubber diaphragm and despite the valve is maxed to the right, it's possible air may seep out at the fill/deflate hole. I put a piece of tape over the hole .. easy to remove if a booster shot is required. The bed has maintained pressure save for the stretch factor and the two booster fills. It's a keeper. We slept on it over the weekend and it was very comfortable. ============================ February 7th 2017 - almost 30 days and all air is well and staying filled. Have not turned on since January. I keep the tape over the fill hole. Maybe the company could make that hole threaded and have a cork of some type folks could screw in to insure there is no leaks from there. Just a though. Great value even two years later!
I purchased this air mattress for when I traveled to friends and family’s houses. It meant I could take my own bed, own sheets, and knew what kind of sleep I would be getting. It’s big enough that my small child could sleep with me as well. It is easy set up. It is also pretty easy breaking it down and getting it back in the bag. Getting it in the carry bag does require some patience and you have to really fold it up nicely to make it fit accurately, but not impossible. I recommend really paying attention to how it’s folded the first time that you take it out to use it. I can say that I have now had it for a little over two years and I still love it! I am a larger woman and the first two years it never leaked any air. Granted I really only used it for travel and guests so that equals about 21-25 sleeps a year. It’s a nice firm sleep and I always slept very well on it no matter where I was and so have my guests. Now two years later I have had to sleep on it more frequently because I was moving. I have had to sleep on it for about the last 7 weeks and it does leak air now. I fill it before bed and 6-7 hours later it has leaked about 20-25%. It’s like the difference between extra firm and extra soft pillow top. What’s great is that you can just reach up and click the switch and inflate it while your still in it if need be. I will be back in my bed soon, but this has definitely gotten the job done. I will probably replace it soon, but I have been impressed with its quality. It fits queen size sheets well. I will say that flannel sheets seem to fit it better and give a more comfortable sleep. They just slide less than regular sheets on it. The carry bag leaves enough space that you can keep the sheets folded on top of the bed too which is nice when you are traveling. Oh and the height is great! My dad slept in it when he visited and he’s 6’3” with arthritis and it was high enough for him to get in and out of and be comfortable. He’s also a bigger guy and he was comfortable and felt supported. I hope this helps because I think it’s been a great bed! ... show more

Squashed but Hopeful in San Diego
I like this air mattress a lot, but with a caveat. We bought it because we recently moved to San Diego and, surprise surprise, all of a sudden everyone wants to visit us! (Can't blame them.) First, we had a couple sleep on the mattress for one night for its inaugural test, and they reported great comfort and no deflation. Fantastic! Second, one friend stayed two nights, with the same report--no deflation, very comfortable. Third, my husband's sister stayed with us for two nights, and after the first night, said she woke up in a mattress burrito, so moved to the couch. My husband had inflated the mattress this time, so I reminded him that to check that the knob was securely locked on the "inflate" side. He said he had done so, but said I should try doing it the second night since I'd had three successful inflations under my belt at this point. I did it that second night and she still ended up in a "mattress hammock" as she so kindly put it. What a bummer! After she left, we inflated it again and left it in the living room to see what happened. It seemed to hold its shape, but once we lay on it and watched some TV, we noticed it starting to deflate, and we tried our darndest to identify where the leak was coming from, but had no luck. No noise of air escaping (although we must have looked really odd crawling around the mattress with our ears to the vinyl), no feeling of air rushing out, so we couldn't patch the leak, either. We have guests coming this weekend and again in another few weeks, which really sad as the air mattress only lasted a total of three nights. Since I really, really like this mattress when it works correctly, I'm going to cross my fingers that it was defective, and order a new one (I didn't keep the packaging after the first successful usage because I figured we were good to go!) and if it eats my money again, then I'm going to have to return it (keeping the packaging this time!!) and take my business elsewhere. Read review why i have a photo of my rug... The bed wiggles it out from under. 5 stars, except... 1 star conclusion. It leaks CONSTANTLY. I have to turn on the pump 5 times or more a day, including the middle of the night when I have to get up to the bathroom. You can't get up from it if it's lost a lot of air. Wake up, turn pump on, THEN get up. At first it was fantastic. I never move it, it's my permanent bed. I think if you kept it to bring out occasionally as a guest bed, beware. I believe every time you let out the air, and try to fold it (not easy because of the inner construction), the next time you set it up the leaks begin. I think it doesn't seal at the big valve at the pump. You can't hear the leak but it's there. I have no kids, no pets, so there's no reason on earth why this starts to lose air. And while i love sleeping on the bed when it works, it annoys the hell out of me because the way it loses air constantly. And I think once you open it to "test" it, it gets worse. Which is why i think it's in the seal, it's doesn't, seal that is. Also, i was having difficulty because it was "walking out" the 8x10' rug i had underneath it (to insulate it from a cold floor). I sleep very still, I rarely move, and over 2 months, the rug shifts out by itself. See photo. I had to stand up the bed (not easy to do by yourself), rearrange the rug, put down a sticky matt to prevent shifting between the rug and the bottom of the bed, and then the bed started to lose even more air. Confused, i thought "Ah, call Customer Service". They have none. I actually let the phone keep an open line with them, waiting for a rep to come to the phone since I had already reached their line. Gave up after 2 hrs. I sent emails complaining, and their answer wear "we cannot help you via email. Please call Customer Service." THEY ARE A JOKE. AT THIS POINT, I WOULDN'T EVEN BUY A POOL FROM THEM. Buy one of the Coleman's or other beds which need a separate pump. Blow it up once and never again. I have one of those in my guest room and haven't had to touch it at all, never loses air. Do not buy this. No wonder it's "currently unavailable". I was very pleasantly surprised at how sturdy and comfortable this bed is. With 380 lbs combined weight sleeping on it all night, It didn't lose any air at all. If you prefer a firm mattress, inflate it to the max and it will also be sturdy for sitting. I don't prefer such firmness, so it's slightly squishy at the edges but it is still possible to sit on it. A rambunctious 90lb child bounced all over it and two dogs ran laps a cross it for hours and it is still in great condition. As an added bonus, I forgot my fitted sheet and had to use the top sheet, and it stayed put all night because it stuck to the velour top. So it's good to know the sheets will stay in place as well. I'm very satisfied and will take this thing with me whenever I travel, just in case. :) UPDATE: The above was written after the first night sleeping on the mattress. I slept on it for a total of nine nights on the trip. It functioned like a normal bed. I left it inflated the whole time and we sat on it during the day. The rambunctious kid played on it with the dogs, bounced hard enough to be scolded repeatedly, four people sat on it simultaneously, and it got shoved around and squeezed into a space it barely fit. Basically, i took it for a hard ride, to see how it would hold up. I'm back to update this review because I'm thoroughly impressed. I did not have to add any air, and it stood up to all the abuse like it was expecting it. As for comfort, it's not my memory foam bed, but it's way better than a standard mattress, especially if you don't inflate to full firmness (if you like it soft). It's a little creaky, but if I had some sort of topper it probably wouldn't be so bad. My friend actually plans to buy one as a permanent bed for her son's room as she was impressed also. For the price it's wonderful. My only complaint was that the air gets cold and I felt a chill coming from inside the mattress - something easily fixed with a better barrier between my body and the bed. Maybe a thick blanket or a mattress pad. But it wasn't so bad I couldn't sleep; I slept great and so did everyone else who tried it out. ... show more

Very Comfortable Airbed
I highly recommend this airbed. It is a bit taller than the other options, which makes it getting in and out of easier. A great value for the size. I purchased this for myself while staying at my son's apartment for two weeks. I have never slept in an airbed before, so it took some getting used to figuring out the proper inflation. At first I inflated it, thinking I needed it to be a little "soft". I slept on it for a couple evenings and it sort of felt like I was on a water bed. So, for the next evening I inflated it a bit more firmer and it was much better. As the enclosed directions stated, the airbed may get a little "deflated" because of the material/fabric stretching a bit. I noticed this happening after about 4-5 days. No big deal. I inflated it a little bit more than the previous time, making it firmer and it was actually very comfortable and not at all "water bed feeling". It did not need any more inflating after that. Getting in and out of the airbed is a little different that a standard mattress. The edges are softer and not as supported as a standard mattress. So, if you are very close to the edge it may tip you out! I am not considering this a flaw, I believe it is just the nature of airbeds. So, keep this in mind when getting in, initially sit deeper into the mattress and you'll be fine. For getting out, again, sit up in bed and sit deeper before you place your feet on the ground. I also would recommend a mattress cover and maybe an underlying blanket or another layer. Sleeping on the airbed I felt a little bit cold - maybe because there is no dense material in the mattress, just air? I'm not sure. If anyone has any similar experience I'd like to hear. All I did was put a thin blanket on the airbed, then a mattress cover, then my sheets and I was warmer. ... show more

Perfect for my glamping weekend at a festival in a 6 person tent
I don't often leave reviews but I felt this item was so great and I did so much research it really deserved pointing out. This is a super amazing air mattress. I did a lot of research and finally decided to try this one and the Coleman Queen Cot which is easily twice as expensive. This beat the more expensive cot by far and I'll be sending the other back. Not only is the other one more expensive but also extremely heavy, while this is more comfortable without bars and just as high up off the ground. -It's awesome that it has a build in inflator, though you don't have to use it. I was taking this on a camping trip where I wouldn't have power and it's quite large, so purchased a charged power inflator. It worked perfectly with this bed because it is designed to be able to use both the AC power plug in it comes attached with and a separate one if wanted. Amazing! So quick and easy to inflate! -It's exceptionally high, practically the size of both a mattress and box spring which is really nice. No need to feel like you're laying down on the ground or end up rolling off it. I can see why people use it to replace their actual mattress. My camping friends made jokes we were "Glamping" with this. -I would warn it might not be ideal for a low heigh clearance tent and definitely wouldn't work in the back of a car. -The air stayed mostly solid even the first 3 nights use though it explains after a couple uses it won't need so much re-inflating. I was very satisfied with the little it deflated by morning. -It's so solid and large it is unlike any other air mattress I've tried. Multiple people on it doesn't really bother the other person like every other mattress I've tried and ended up halfway on the floor on a lumpy air bed - this didn't even come close to that! I went to sleep and my bed mate came in much later after me and didn't even wake me up. -It comes with hole stickers which I thought was a nice touch though I haven't needed to use them. -Comes with a decent carrying bag and is easy to fold up. Only slight negative I found is that because it's high up, it's inconvenient to leave things on the ground. We are contemplating having small portable side tables next to it because of it's height.
