Intex Comfort Plush Elevated Dura-Beam Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump - Twin I needed a bed to replace the one that my brother has me sleep in when I visit. I normally sleep in a hammock, so it made sense to me to go with an airbed because I could deflate it some, but I have had airbeds in the past that were not so great. When fully inflated, this bed is super firm and remarkably stable. But I can't have that. My goal was to mimic my normal hammock conditions. For that, I inflated it fully, put a pillow under my knees and another couple under my back and shoulders/head, and let some air out of the mattress hoping my butt would sink. It Worked!! So I had quite a stretch over my head to reach the release valve, but with some perseverance I prevailed. The motor and valve package is very nice. They say four minutes - I guess that's accurate. It was pretty quick to inflate and to deflate. There is one valve which you turn clockwise if you want to inflate and counterclockwise if you want to deflate completely. I mean, if you just turn the knob CCW it will start to release air, but if you go all the way, you can expel the air with the motor. It's faster and definitely more complete than I would be able to do without it. Once you vacuum all the air out of it, it folds in thirds lengthwise and folds/rolls up very nicely and much smaller than the bag they give you. One other nice design feature of this valve/motor unit that is built in, aside from the very smart cord storage compartment built in, there is a hole in the center of the open/close valve that allows you to insert the nozzle of another pump if this one dies or if you need to do it with batteries or whatever. Good lookin' out. I love that it is 18" high because it is easier to stand up from. A 'normal' airbed would be either right close to the floor or I've had one that was two twins that you could stack which was really unstable. This one is very nice and stable - until I let the air out. It was interesting that once I let enough air out of it to do what I wanted, it became easy to become off center. It turns out there is a center line which, if you can stay on it, will remain pretty stable. But once you stray from that, it wanted to send all the air to the other side and then it felt like it wanted to roll me out. Also, the diminished pressure took away from the ease of getting up from it because as you got up, your hands sunk down into it and so didn't help to push you up. I realize that I am using this in an unconventional way and one for which it was not designed, but all things considered, it performed very well - even the way I used it. I may as well offer that a friend of mine has one and she absolutely loves hers. (I didn't know about hers until after I had mine, so our feelings about them are not influenced by the other)

I've only had my Intex Comfort Plush Twin Bed for a week. So, there's no telling just how durable it will be. But so far, so good. I will say this; it is more comfortable than my other bed with a 10-inch memory foam mattress, for which I paid several times what I paid for this Intex. The firmness is easily adjustable and when you've got it just right, it gives excellent support so that you don't awaken with a sore neck or back. One word of caution, though: This twin is 39 inches wide. So, don't expect to sit right on the edge of the bed and then roll into the middle...or you may get the sensation that you've sat on a bowlful of jello. Instead try to sit in the middle of the bed, and then roll onto it. Also, if you tend to sleep with one leg and one arm dangling over the side, you might get that same jello sensation. It's probably different with a Queen or King version since there's a larger base of support. But, at this price especially, this Intex Comfort Plus Twin Bed gets 5 stars from me! UPDATE: I bought this airbed 2 1/2 years ago, using it virtually every night...and it is still going strong! Quite a deal! I tap the auto-inflation switch for a second (sometimes 2 seconds) before going to bed each night, and sleep comfortably for 8 hours. So there might be a MICROleak somewhere...but not so as you'd notice between the time you climb into bed until you get up in the morning. If I have a complaint, it's that they don't make fitted sheets that fit securely. They should add snap fasters--maybe 8 to 10--to the sides, north and south ends of this airbed--and make sheets, also with snap fasteners, so that sheets could be secured to the airbed.

Quite amazed at how quick and simple this is to set up and inflate. Took only minutes. It's a nice height from the ground and very comfortable, though as others have noted, there's the feeling that you need to stay centered on the mattress or risk rolling off. This can be avoided to an extent by not inflating it quite as hard that likely leads to a high spot in the center of the mattress. Deflating and packing was just as easy.... quickly deflated and with a little folding and pressing out remaining air, was easily folded up and stored away. I did not however try to fold it up small and tight in order to fit it back into the container, though that shouldn't be too difficult with some work. In hindsight I think I may have been better off with a queen size to reduce the slight instability of this narrower mattress. But this size is large enough for me and it does leave more room in the tent where I plan to use it. It's sturdy enough to sit on comfortably. I've laid on it and was very comfortable, though I've yet to sleep on it. It's well made for what it is and extremely easy to inflate and deflate. I did not have any trouble with it losing air. As a matter of fact, after several hours I ended up letting a bit of air out to eliminate the slight bulge in the center. Instructions however say to leave it fully inflated for several hours and to expect it to seem to deflate a little due to the plastic stretching initially. At any rate, short of an actual leak, it's a very simple matter to just pump a little more air into it should it lose air. But I don't see that being necessary any more than once a day maybe.

Just received this a few days ago and boy is it comfortable. WARNING: I will be using that word quite a bit in this review. This is the best air mattress I have ever purchased. No kidding! It's not made like those flimsy ones that most people usually buy and it sits up high (hence the "Elevated" in it's name), which I like. Well worth the price which is great by the way. I have never found a quality air mattress for this price. PROS Well-made Comfortable Built-in inflator Has a structure similar to a real mattress Cloth-textured side for comfort Inflates very quickly Firmness and Softness can be adjusted for comfort CONS Don't have any as of now. Where am I using this air mattress you ask.... Well it's for guests but most importantly for myself when I want to take it in the living room and watch The Lord of the Rings Trilogy on the floor in comfort with popcorn in hand : ) . For the amount I paid I would purchase another one. Seriously, this is coming from someone who has bought 4 or five air mattresses, even a few that cost more than this one. If you're looking for one that's of good quality and comfortable this is it........Comfortable *EXTRA TIP* For past and prospective customers if you accidentally rip it or poke a hole in it somehow, you can pick up the Tear-Aid Repair Type B Vinyl Kit at your local hardware store or on Amazon. It works. Invest in it if you want to hold on to your air mattress and not toss it in the trash when it starts leaking or gets ripped. By the way sometimes when it's leaking air there may be a tiny hole(s) on your air mattress. You have to find those little scoundrels and seal them if you're not ok with having to purchase a new one.

The first time I used this mattress to sleep on, it was great. Easy to inflate, comfortable, I liked the height so it didn't feel like you were sleeping on the floor. After that first time, however, it leaked every time I tried to use it. The second time I tried to use it for my nephew to sleep on while spending the night at our house, it leaked. The seam at the corner where the hard plastic control box is welded to the actual vinyl mattress leaked at a corner. The next day I went out and bought a patch kit to fix it, and even though it was in a tough place to patch, it seemed like I had it fixed....until the next time I tried to use it and one of the other corners was leaking! Patched that corner as well. This pattern repeated itself every time I tried to use this P.O.S. until this last time, the 5th (!) time I had to patch the seam around the control box, I had enough. It went out with the garbage yesterday where it belonged. I have owned other Intex mattresses, and they all worked fairly well, and seemed to last as long as you would expect an air mattress to last, but not this one. Garbage manufacturing.

Ordered 2. We've had these inflated for over a month now, using them on the weekends with the kids' friends and their cousin, and have only had to reinflate a little to adjust firmness depending on the users' preference. Very easy to adjust firmness, I inflated immediately upon receipt, as the instructions (and many reviews) remind you that the vinyl will stretch and will need air added a time or two prior to first use to prevent sagging that first night. With the help of plenty of kids and adults testing the mattresses the first day or two while "stretching" the vinyl (we even added people until we hit the recommended weight limit of the mattresses), we were all set to go on day 3. No sagging. Everyone loves them BECAUSE of their ability to be adjusted (some like it very firm, some like it quite soft, and many like it somewhere in between. There was a SLIGHT "plastic smell" upon opening, but of course that is expected, and by the time they'd been properly prepared to ensure no sagging with use due to stretching, the smell was long gone. They are definitely deep - standard sheets CAN fit them, but if it weren't for the shaped/beveled edges, the sheets probably wouldn't stay on, as they will not fit all the way around the base. But that's why the beveled edges are there! Cord storage is ideal - I LOVE that I can just fold up the cord and tuck it away into the mattress - no losing cords! I WILL be buying more!

*** This review has been UPDATED 09/07/15. See at the end**** This mattress must be defective. The sleeping surface is not flat as it is pictured. It is shaped like a pitcher's mound. You literally lie on top of the "hill" and hold on for dear life so you do not roll off. This occurs no matter how much air you put in. I started off completely full of air. I thought it would flatten out if I let out some air. I slowly deflated it until it was only half full of air. The curved sleeping surface never got flat. The bed is very unstable as well. You have to lie on the bed with one foot at each corner for stability. If you move your body at all, the bed moves so much you almost fall/roll off. I had to get a death grip on the sides with my hands to keep from being thrown to the floor. I read a few reviews that complained about this kind of problem, but there were so many good reviews, I decided to take a chance. I wish I had never bought it. I tried to return it, but I did not buy it from Amazon; it was a seller on Amazon (VMInnovations ). They would not let me return it. They sent me an email with the manufacturer contact info to file a warranty claim. They also emailed me a printable receipt for the warranty claim. I wasn't happy about that. Next time, I will make sure I buy something like this directly from Amazon. I contacted the manufacturer. I was surprised to find out they are in Long Beach Ca. I was told to cut out (from the mattress) the Intex logo and a 6 inch by 6 inch piece of the mattress and send it in with my receipt. I also had to file a claim online. I was told they will send me a new mattress when they receive all the stuff I had to send back. I did all that and am waiting for a new mattress. But.... I am fearful I will get a mattress with the same darn problem. This must be a common complaint, because when I gave this description to the claim person, she said "okay" and did not ask me any further questions. I will update if and when I receive a new mattress. *** 09/07/15 UPDATE*** I received the replacement mattress. I only slept on it once, for two days in a row when visiting my family, but that was all I needed to know it is okay. The sleeping surface is flat like it should be. It seemed to lose a decent amount of air the first night, and I had to pump it up in the middle of the night. It could be because the plastic stretches and not that it lost air. Before going to bed the second night, I pumped it way up, probably more than I needed, because it was kind of hard, but it did not lose very much air where it needed to be pumped up again. The bed is a little unstable, but what do you expect for plastic and air? The main thing, it's not like the first mattress where I had to hold on for dear life. I was able to turn over on my side, I just did it slowly. The built-in pump is a dream, both for pumping up and for deflating. I gave a three-star rating because the first mattress was so bad. Had I received the replacement first, I would have given it four.

Excellent purchase! We own the Intex Comfort size Queen for guests and always loved it, but when we had our baby I needed a quick solution to sleeping better.... During a 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am kind of night, I got the idea to order this in twin bed size to have inflated in her nursery. I have been sleeping in her room for the past twelve weeks on this mattress and it has been a lifesaver! It fits a mattress pad and sheets nicely, and is a good height for standing up/sitting down without a lot of strain on your body. I find I only have to put air in it every 5 - 7 days, and even then not much. We love that the pump is part of the bed and that the cord can be stored inside as well. The microfiber top is wonderful to keep sheets in place. Once I transition back into my own bed, it will be nice to have this on hand for any future visitors! Overall a great product.
