This was the only 9.5" scoop coater I could find on Amazon. It took almost 2 weeks to even ship, but they finally got it to me using 2nd Day Air, so I do appreciate the fact it was expedited. Unfortunately, in retrospect, I wish I had just cancelled and bought it somewhere else. The description claims this is the best design in the industry... NOPE. There are so many problems with this thing that I don't even know where to begin. 1) It has completely useless screws sticking out of the sides. There is absolutely zero purpose to them. They don't hold anything together, they are just there. They've been removed in most of the product photos, but we can't use it like that, emulsion will leak out. How did I solve this? I had to glue the holes shut. Otherwise, if you're using a 10x14" screen, these screws on going to catch on it every. single. time. I could not get a smooth coat because every time I tried, the screws would snag on the sides of the frame. 2) For some stupid reason, they put drain plugs on both ends. Okay, in theory this sort of makes sense. In reality? Emulsion is way to thick to dump out a small hole, it just makes an even bigger mess trying to use them. These holes are also too big to plug, so I am just stuck with extra work when I clean it out. 3) This is not a dual sided scoop coater. There is no thicker round edge, we get two identical sharp edges that cut emulsion. Sure, this has it's purpose, but it is far from ideal. Any scoop coater worth consideration has two different sides. 4) Worst of all, it will rip your screen. After coating, once you reach the top, you need to tip it back and slide up an extra few inches. This is standard practice and helps prevent drips. If you try to do that with this coater, the sharp metal corners will push against the screen and drag along it, causing damage all the way up. If I didn't specifically need a 9.5" scoop coater, I would absolutely demand a refund. Unfortunately this piece of junk is the only one I can locate that's the desired size, so I have to be extremely careful and try to make it work.
