Excellent camera, especially on sale, but still expensive
Set name: Dual Battery Bundle
I use the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 regularly, and it has become one of those cameras I can just grab, start recording, and trust to give me good footage without much fuss. Image quality is one of its biggest strengths. The footage comes out sharp with good detail and color, and the low-light performance is especially impressive for an action camera. I also like the stabilization because it makes handheld footage much easier to use without constantly thinking about how perfectly I am holding the camera. The flip-up touchscreen is one of my favorite features. It makes framing much easier when I am in front of the camera, and the screen is large enough that changing settings does not feel cramped. The magnetic mounting system is also very convenient when moving the camera between different setups. The camera itself is compact enough to carry around without being a hassle, but it still feels solid and well built. I have not intentionally abused it to test durability, but nothing about it feels cheap or fragile during normal use. Battery life is decent for what this camera is doing, but I am glad I went with the dual-battery bundle. Having a second battery ready to go is genuinely useful, especially when recording at higher resolutions or using the screen a lot. For me, the extra battery adds more value than getting a bundle filled with accessories I may not use. Audio has also been good for an action camera, and I like the removable wind guard. It is a small feature, but it gives you some flexibility depending on how you are recording. There are a lot of features and shooting modes packed into the Ace Pro 2, so there is definitely some learning involved if you want to get everything out of it. You can start recording right away, but spending some time learning the different modes, stabilization options, resolutions, and settings is worth it. I paid $309.99 for the dual-battery bundle on sale, and at that price I think it is reasonable for what you are getting, although I still consider it an expensive action camera. At the regular price, I would think much harder about the value for money. Around the price I paid, the image quality, stabilization, flip screen, magnetic mounting, and second battery make the package much easier for me to justify. For regular use, the Ace Pro 2 has been stable, dependable, and easy to work with. The camera is not cheap, but when the price drops into the low $300 range for the dual-battery bundle, I think it becomes a much more attractive package.

Just buy this camera, it’s better than GoPro and DJI

I bounced around between the DJI and this camera for a month or two and couldn’t decide. I actually ordered the DJI Osmo Action 4 and returned it because I didn’t like the interface and there were settings I couldn’t get to work. This camera out of the box is impressive. You’re basically getting a mini Leica Camera, but rugged and robust build of an action camera. I was worried about durability. I’m a firefighter full time and wanted something that I could use for body cam footage. You see people do it all the time with GoPro. Let me tell you, this camera is a tank. I was so gun shy about wearing it but I finally did and I don’t know even know why I was worried about it. Plus, my footage blows other guys’ GoPros out of the water. It’s not even a competition. Image quality is like nothing I’ve ever seen out of an action camera. The colors pop and images are sharp and videos are immersive. It can look a bit “over processed” if you dive into the settings or filters too much. Honestly 4k30 on the standard filter looks incredible as it is. I also wanted a dual purpose camera that I can then take off my gear and use at home for family moments and dive into street photography some. This camera does it all. I will say it is worth it to invest in the closeup lens that insta360 makes for this camera because action cameras in general struggle with focusing on super up close objects. Other than that?? Out of the box you’re good to go. I also bought the Xplorer Grip. Not the pro grip, but the original one. I found the xplorer grip pro to be a bit of a drag because you have to take the usb door cover off of the camera in order to use it and that takes away from the water proof rating of the camera. Is it the camera’s fault? No. It’s a characteristic of the xplorer grip pro. If you’re going to LEAVE the camera In the xplorer grip pro and not constantly swap it in and out like I would be then that would be a great option for you. Overall, this thing is an absolute GoPro KILLER. The low light performance is second to none and the image quality is insane. Just buy it. Don’t bounce around like I did, just buy this camera and be done. You won’t regret it. One extra thing to buy, buy the Llano battery charger. It comes with two Llano brand batteries and they’re great. Also give you the capability to charge batteries without taking the camera out of service.

If you want a camera that does everything good enough but not excellent in one specific class, then this is for you. Good features, good resolutions and frame rate, easy to use and portable. Only gripe against it is its lack of zoom, but it’s understandable for its compact size. I like the quality, it’s a very versatile camera that can be used for almost any project or activity.

Great build quality and impressive performance

This action camera feels very well made. The build quality is premium, and all the parts feel solid and high-end. Image quality is strong, and it’s very easy to use right out of the box. The stabilization also works really well, keeping footage smooth even when I’m moving around. Overall, it delivers great-looking video, and the camera itself feels reliable in hand. I did notice that colors can look a bit bright in some situations, but that’s easy to adjust in post to match my preferred style. One of the main highlights is the low-light performance, which has been quite good so far, with clear details and usable footage indoors or in the evening. I still haven’t explored all the features yet, and I feel like there’s more potential to unlock. I’m planning to pick up a couple of lenses and mounts to experiment with different perspectives, and I’m excited to keep testing it and discovering more creative possibilities.

Great Video, Okay JPEGS

Great action cam, video is exceptional as are the choices within the software for color profiles. Note some complain about the lack of 10 bit color but unless you are making professional video the issue is moot. One reason and one area of improvement would be the camera operation, when I saw the Leica sensor and being a photographer I was hoping for the Leica performance. Did not happen and the reason for the 4 on this review. This appear to be a software issue and a issue of not providing the Leica experience for $310 when their cams run in the thousands to tens of thousands. Understandable, but a software flash is needed to improve the photo quality which is very good just not what I expected and not a replacement for my Sony A1 which I knew when I purchased the cam but was hopeful I found the ultimate travel cam. All in all for the price point this is an exceptional product and well worth the price.

Overall, I really like this camera—it's fun, versatile, and delivers impressive results that have sparked my creativity in new ways. When I first unboxed it, I noticed the 3.5mm audio jack plug/cover was missing, and the shutter button on the camera felt prone to coming loose with use. I reached out to Insta360 support, and I'm happy to say they stepped up and fully resolved the issue by promptly replacing the grip for me—no hassle after that. That kind of responsive customer service makes a big difference and restored my confidence in the brand. With the replacement grip in place, everything has been smooth sailing since.
