I really like the look of these curtains. I bought 3 pair, 2 for my sliding glass door and one for my window. They are in fact a thick material, they are not silky or soft. They are a bit of a stiffer linen type fabric with a heavy linen texture but they look very nice in my room. They darken the bedroom very well. I bought wrap around curtain rods so the sun doesn’t shine in on the sides. The only place the light can come in is from the top or, if your curtain doesn’t go all the way to the floor, the bottom. I hate light at night. Living in the city makes this unavoidable, but these are by far the greatest blackout curtains I've ever owned. I have tried many brands over the last 20 years in a wide price range. These are absolutely the best. The material is thick without giving the curtains a heavy look, and all the lights in the parking lot of my apartment complex may as well be extinguished when I close these curtains. My husband immediately commented on how much darker the bedroom is on the first night. I can even leave the blinds open so my mischievous cats won't tear them apart trying to look outside - doesn't matter anymore, since these curtains block out everything.
