I have all of Ghost’s albums on LP or CD or both. Opus was my favorite. Like Blue Oyster Cult went to Juilliard, became witches, learned a ton, and then dropped a bomb of an album. I’ve listened to it at least 100 times over the past decade. I was very excited for Impera to release after hearing Hunter’s Moon. Ghost are so tight musically and that song is an good example of this. In 1985 Hunter’s Moon would have dominated radio play ( I was 12 so I remember what was on…). I received Impera on vinyl today and there is more of the same yummy rock. The first song brings to mind Journey and a bit of Rush and the next song is Foreigner all the way. After that though it is all Ghost jamming unapologetically like it’s the early 80s and I love it. The Nameless Ghouls are such good musicians. Seriously ! And Papa has a fantastic, almost beyond belief, melodic voice. I think 2 of the songs are a bit meh but the rest is great music. All in all a super tight, highly pleasing album. I think it is as good as Opus. Musically better; but I do like the lyrics and subject matter more from Opus. The vinyl quality is high and sounds super. A nice insert too.     • Unexpected
The music on this album surprised me, not having any idea what to expect but guided by the artwork. It seems that the two don't jive with my preconceptions. I heard sounds that could've come a Toto cd. Not a bad thing but unexpected. Overall a pleasing experience.
