For starters, I've got quite a few items from ILM and I can say for a fact, they don't usually miss, and this is no exception. This upper body armor not only looks cool, but it seems like it gets the job done. As for the fit, trust the sizing chart. I'm 5'9 about 200 lbs and anywhere between a 38-44 in the chest, depending on the time of year. Typically things don't normally fit right out of the box, but surprisingly, this fit with no issues. The elbow pads have adjustable straps that keep them in place and the chest has velcro straps that allow you to adjust the size relative to the shoulders. The elastic waistband allowed me to tighten it up around the midsection while maintaining a secure fit up top. This little addition was just the chef's kiss on top. The addition of the velcro provide for a unique fit, and added comfort. The materials are mostly mesh, so it's fairly breathable. I had it on for about an hour before I started sweating under it and felt like I needed to unzip it for a bit to get some air. As for how much protection it provides, the shoulders, elbows, and spine are HEAVILY reinforced by the material. The chest also provides quite a bit of protection, but not as much hard plastic as the other areas. I can't say I'd want to take a spill going 90+mph, but I'm extremely confident it could reduce most minor falls to very little to absolutely no injury. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied and it's definitely one of those things I hope I never need, but thankfully, it's comfortable enough, I can dress for the slide and not feel uncomfortable or think I look silly. At this price, it's well worth the money given the amount of thought put into the product. ... show more

This is a great under armor style jacket. I have ILM’s riding boots and they’re great quality, so I had a feeling this would be just as good, and it is. The pads on the elbows and shoulders are hard, thick rubber and will certainly hold up to at least one slide. Being rubber, they should absorb a lot of the impact from a fall or collision. The chest and spine plates are hard plastic and are the same material that most other jackets use. They’ll definitely protect your torso from most of the damage you’d experience. I got my typical size of medium, and it is a little tight, but the material is very stretchy and fits well after zipped up. It’s designed to be worn under other gear, so you can wear your favorite jacket while still being protected. The material that’s not armor is like dri-fit, so it’s very breathable and may even be moisture wicking. Overall exactly what I expected from this brand. For under $100 at the time of writing, well worth the money for the amount of protection you’ll get out of this. ... show more

This armor jacket is fairly comfortable to wear and not overly hot, which is important if you’re riding in warmer conditions. It provides good coverage with spine protection while still being wearable for longer periods. The fit was good for me I ordered an XL and it fit as expected without feeling too tight or too loose. It’s comfortable enough to move around in and doesn’t feel bulky. The build quality looks decent for the price, with solid stitching and materials that seem like they’ll hold up to normal use.
