Amazing Dac/Amp for gaming, I highly recommended if you want better sound stage and footstep awareness. I pair them with Arete 2 IEM and kimura cable and mic for the IEM. I have had every gaming headset there is in the market (Including steel series nova elite and latest turtle beach stealth pro 2) and I am telling you that this combo is the best thing you're going to hear for any type of game. The Arete 2 IEM are already awesome but the Fosi Audio C3 takes it to another level.

The Fosi C3 is a great product. Coincidentally, I kid you not, maybe three hours before it arrived, the audio out on my PC’s motherboard shorted or something. It was the strangest occurrence, and this really stepped up to save the day. The packaging includes the product itself, which is slightly weightier than I imagined but quite good for sitting on my PC desk, and small too. There are little rubber legs that keep it from sliding if you have a particularly slippery surface. It also comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable (with an alternate USB-C to USB-A adapter for compatibility) and a headphone/mic splitter in case your headphones use one of those combo jacks, allowing you to plug into the C3's 3.5mm audio out and mic input for mic boost. To be honest, it works right out of the box without any software; while I heard there is some available, for my use case, I didn’t really need it. Functionally, it seems to power via USB, which also handles data. You can also use an optical cable, though you will still want to use the USB-C for power. The C3 has a physical power toggle that you can turn on (and off via long press), so it doesn’t need to stay on constantly. The sliders feel really smooth to operate with a gentle resistance to them. By default, it has two audio effects: simulated 7.1 surround sound or an FPS mode for AI-tuned positional awareness of footsteps. These effects can be toggled off via a "bypass" mode for original sound. UAC 2.0 provides high-quality bitrate audio, while 1.0 is for gaming, as this mode is needed to use the aforementioned effects. Interestingly, there is a toggle switch on the back for mic boost and AI noise reduction. The mic button physically mutes the audio but also activates a mic monitoring mode when held. Additionally, it has RCA outs in case you want to route the signal to another device. Anyway, all in all, I’m putting it to good use. The C3 is great for gaming, and the headphone amp part works well enough to fully drive my HD650s; in that sense, it’s giving me a reason to use that pair of cans again. I can't say I have any complaints. At $130 at the time of writing, I would say the value is very fair given that budget amp/DAC combos can cost significantly more these days. If you game and can utilize the AI-tuned FPS feature, it certainly adds a lot more value to the package on top of everything else it already does. Great value in that sense.

This is a perfect hack for FPS games! One of the biggest advantages you can have is to hear what's happening around you before everyone else does or sounds like footsteps nobody else hears. That's what this unit does and you can attach it to your Xbox, PS5, PC, or any other device... "I love this" After connecting it and spending some time gaming, I noticed how much easier it became to pick up subtle audio cues. Footsteps that previously blended into the background became much more noticeable, and it was easier to determine both the direction and approximate distance of other players. In games where situational awareness matters, this can make a huge difference. There were numerous times when I could hear someone approaching from behind, moving through a nearby building, or attempting to sneak around my position before I ever saw them on screen. Instead of being surprised, I was already preparing for the encounter. The footstep enhancement feature was the biggest standout for me. While it won't magically make someone a better player, it absolutely helps reveal details that can sometimes get buried beneath explosions, music, and other game sounds. It almost feels like gaining another layer of awareness during gameplay. I also appreciated having physical controls directly on the unit. Being able to quickly adjust volume without minimizing a game or digging through software menus is convenient during intense matches. Beyond gaming, audio quality for videos and music was also very good. Voices sounded clear, and the overall sound was cleaner than what I typically get from onboard motherboard audio. For anyone who enjoys competitive shooters, battle royales, extraction shooters, or tactical team-based games, the ability to better identify player movement can provide a genuine advantage. 💡 Tip: Lower in-game music volume slightly while using footstep enhancement. It helps subtle movement sounds stand out even more. 💡 Tip: Spend a few matches learning how different surfaces sound. Footsteps on metal, wood, concrete, and grass often provide useful clues about an opponent's location. 💡 Tip: Pair this with a quality gaming headset to get the most benefit from the positional audio improvements. Overall, the footstep enhancement and improved positional audio were the biggest reasons I enjoyed using this device. Being able to hear approaching players sooner and more accurately has noticeably improved my awareness during matches, especially in competitive FPS games.
