Don't listen to the naysayers. This helmet is excellent for the money and it is DOT. IT IS NOT SHORT NOR SMALL IN SIZE. I had a short brain bucket helmet that I was using previously, but I always thought it wouldn't help me much if needed. This helmet is MUCH bigger, and the chin bar snaps up nicely. The sunglasses DO snap down far enough to block glare. The helmet feels solid. I thought the LED was not quite as bright as expected, but when I brought it into a dark room, I felt better about it. At night, it should definitely help. I have a bunch of AAAs, so I'll try it during the day as well. Anything to keep this distracted cagers off me. No problems for me. I am happy with this purchase. There are pros and cons for this helmet. Pros: good sun visor and easy deployment, the modular design works well as stood up well to throwing me off the bike. Cons: WIND, wind noises are strong and you will need either extra noise insulation or very good inserts to combat this at higher speeds. A lot of reviews point out the plastic components are fragile, but for this price they hold up well. The visor will also need fog protection coating applied as it is EXTREMELY prone to fog up in the rain or winter. This helmet literally saved my life on Friday so Iโ€™ll bump it from 3 to 4 stars. I ordered a Large, and it fits perfectly. 53F today so I hopped on my Triumph for a couple hours and even without a windshield this helmet didn't turn on my head when I looked to the side like my old cheap helmet did. It was kind of windy, so when I raised the glass I could feel it and as soon as I took off again and lowered the glass it was great. This is a great helmet. Very well made. The measurement guide was right on, it fits like a glove. I haven't riden with it yet but I'm sure it will be quiet due to the way it fits. I had a surprise added bonus, it has a built-in retractable tinted shield.
