How long will SPF 40 protect me? SPF 40 means that if your skin burns within five minutes of sun exposure, Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 will offer you 40X that time in the sun before burning. 40 x 5 minutes = 3+ hours in the sun without burning. To reapply protection, we suggest using the Radiant Translucent Powder SPF 20 instead of layering the Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40. How do you recycle the bottle? The bottle can be recycled after use in a standard recycling bin. The dropper collar and cap can be recycled through TerraCycle's Zero Waste Box platform that is dedicated to recycling the hard-to-recycle. Learn more here. What kind of coverage does the Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 have? Is it buildable? Light, dewy coverage. We do not recommend layering, as it may start to feel heavy. How much product should I use? We recommend a quarter dropper, or enough to cover your face in a thin layer for proper SPF protection. For those with oily skin, we recommend setting with our Soft Focus Finishing Powder along the T-Zone. On the bottle, it states that you need to reapply this product every 2 hours. Should this be reapplied throughout the day? Because this is makeup, we recommend you apply during your morning routine and if needed, boost your SPF throughout the day with Radiant Translucent Powder SPF 20. Is ILIA Skin Tint buildable? ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 is not designed to be buildable. It provides light coverage with a dewy finish. For more coverage, we recommend pairing it with ILIA True Skin Serum Concealer. I like it, has lots of great ingredients and all clean so I appreciate that. The coverage isn't the best, but it works well if you use another cream under the eyes (for my dark circles at least). At first I did not like it because it went on so greasy, but the greasiness goes away a little while after you apply it. I have noticed my skin looking healthier after using this coverup and acne cleared up. I will buy it again. The down side is it's very expensive for the amount you get, kind of ridiculous. I understand that pale girl makeup is like the white crayon of makeup because it’s basically pointless and covers nothing, but I was still expecting more. With my first bottle, I was pleasantly surprised with the coverage, even though it wasn’t a ton, it still evened out my skin and redness, covered some pimples decently, and I looked radiant, dewy, fresh, and flirty. I’m already pretty pale in the summer but I’m practically a ghost in the winter, so I got a lighter shade, maybe even the lightest one they offer, and I feel like the formula was completely different (perhaps it’s because the first bottle I bought in store at Sephora and this one I bought on Amazon?). It was way more oily than my last bottle (maybe due to less pigment?) whereas the last bottle gave more of a healthy glow look, and it even felt greasy and covered absolutely nothing (coming from someone who LOVES dewy, light coverage base looks year round). I pretty much use it as a tinted sunscreen on days I don’t feel like putting on makeup because it’s pointless as a base. I’m frustrated though because the first bottle I got, I LOVED and felt like I didn’t even need to set it with powder. Now, not only do I have to set it, but I have to put a full face of makeup on top if I want any coverage or a real makeup look. Ugh. When will ghosts get to have makeup with decent coverage AND a natural finish 😭. I know it’s not a foundation but I’m telling you the first bottle I tried was phenomenal and looked like you had the healthiest, most beautiful skin, giving the perfect base to only do touch up concealer, mascara, blush, and go, and the second bottle I tried was awful. If you’re tan or have a deeper toned skin, I think you’ll love it, but if you’re a ghost like me, you probably won’t like it. For reference, I have somewhat oily skin and struggle with pimples and blackheads, live in the south where it’s hot and humid, and I didn’t have a ton of issues with it sliding around when I didn’t set it, but if I knew I was going to be outside for more than an hour, I DEFINITELY set it very well and even brought powder with me to touch up. In the fall I almost never set it though since I wasn’t sweating it off and it seemed to stay okay, just don’t touch your face or rub it off lol. ... show more

This is more expensive than my normal tinted SPF, so it took me a few months to pull the trigger. Honestly, it’s a bit disappointing. I went a shade darker & warmer than normal (Formosa,) because the models in the photos looked pasty in paler colors-glad I did so. I have dry skin in my t-zone, & I’m 35, so I have some fine lines. This stuff is weird; it is greasy, but if I don’t use moisturizer under, it dries out my skin. I do not like a heavily makeuped look. I try to look like I’m wearing no makeup and just lightly enhance my look with light brown fill, mascara & tinted SPF. This stuff is THICK, not sheer, yet somehow doesn’t cover my redness. Greasy & drying at the same time somehow. Absolutely requires some sort of setting powder, or it just rubs off on everything. This makes it look cakey, which I hate. I have sensitive skin, and this doesn’t irritate it more than anything else I’ve found, but it certainly isn’t irritation free, either. Just not for me, my look or my skin. ... show more
