Some of the tools are plastic but they still all feel like good quality and have been helpful for a lot of little repairs and maintenance on my electronics that I've been putting off The magnetized screwdriver (mostly plastic) is pretty nice. It has a rubber grip and it's nice that you can store three bits in the free-spinning end cap. It is the cheapest bit driver ifixit has, but it gets the job done all the same. Not sure how often I'll need a lot of the bits (all metal), but I guess it's better to have them just in case. Not like they drove up the price much anyways The spudger (carbon fiber) and opening tool (plastic, apparently engineered to break before your device does) were perfect for getting a broken drive out of one of my laptops that had been stuck down with sticky putty by someone else's previous repair. I was able to lift it enough with the opening tool to stab at the putty with the spudger until the drive came free The opening pick (plastic) (there are 6) made taking the shell off that laptop and my 3ds a breeze I haven't used the tweezers (metal), suction cup (plastic), or jimmy (plastic with metal blade) yet but I know they'll be useful for things I'm planning and they seem like decent quality Everything comes nice and snug in a solid case (plastic, fit foam insert inside). It's two separate pieces held together with magnets, they hold well. To get the tools out you just push down on the bottom of them and they'll flip up Only thing I might see myself needing that's not in here is a way to heat up and soften adhesives, but it's pretty easy to improvise a heating pad. And if it's something I somehow end up needing often, I'd rather just buy a heat gun instead And the price is pretty good! Each of the tools individually would be $37 from ifixit, and that's without factoring in all the screwdriver bits Plus it came with cool stickers! If you have use for the tools, definitely pick this up. If you're not gonna use them all, ifixit is still a great company and I'm sure there's another kit that will suit your needs. Or you can always pick up a couple specific tools if that's all you need ... show more

I finally got to dig into this set and am now equipped to review it. I bought this starter set to get into controller modding with a little bit more seriousness. The manufacturer of the mod kits does provide rudimentary tools, but of a much lower quality than what was included in this kit from ifixit. Each piece I used was of solid quality, felt adequate for the job, felt good in the hand, felt good to use. The case is held together by medium-strength magnets and feels secure. It's a nice little kit. Disclaimer: The only thing I didn't have to use yet was the suction cup, so I can't vouch for that yet. If I ever need to I'll be sure to come back and update. ... show more

The screwdriver and the rest of the kit seem durable. The plastic tool opener is good and doesn't scratch the item you are trying to fix. These plastic seem a bit better made than the cheaper one out there and I have both. Screwdriver head seem to higher quality steel so it won't strip the screw like lower quality screw heads. I never used the suction tool because I didn't need to. Recommend if you are trying to fix stuff. ... show more

All components very useful, although I wouldn't call them the most resilient to knicks and scratches, the screwdriver being the only exception to this. All components still most definitely good for the price point though. 9/10 would recommend buying.

I bought them so I could replace my old iPod classic display and everything in this kit was incredibly useful, specially the metal spudger tool! The process was easy and the tools feel like they’re great quality too. I hope they can help me with further repairs just as well :)
