Obviouly the only reason NOT to get one is the excessive price. Icom is making a huge margin on these I'm sure to help offset other product margins. But I had to have it anyway. Looks and sounds great, and it is a good improvement from the small speaker in the radio.

This is a decent speaker that matches the Icom IC-9700 and IC-7300. It sounds very good. It was worth getting at the price that Amazon was selling it at, which was well below other sellers.

The main advantage it offers over the speaker in the radio is that it points towards the operator instead of the bottom of a shelf above the radio. ... show more

    • Easy to copy voice down in the noise.
I tried 4-5 external speakers with my IC-7300. This one stands out. It does not sound Hi-Fi, but is very good at reproducing HAM radio voice. You can also turn the 7300 all the way up and it never distorts, it just gets louder. I was surprised at how good this speaker is. Expensive for what it is, but worth it. ... show more
