This is a decent speaker that matches the Icom IC-9700 and IC-7300. It sounds very good. It was worth getting at the price that Amazon was selling it at, which was well below other sellers.

Obviouly the only reason NOT to get one is the excessive price. Icom is making a huge margin on these I'm sure to help offset other product margins. But I had to have it anyway. Looks and sounds great, and it is a good improvement from the small speaker in the radio.

    • Excellent, but way too expensive.
Much better audio than top mounted speaker in the IC-7300, also due to the fact that it’s front facing I would imagine. But should not be priced over $100.

    • Its clarity improves weak SSB signals....
Yes the price is a bit high for a speaker.... but I have to say it does significantly improve the clarity of received SSB signals. At first I didn't like the sound of this ICOM speaker as I had previously been using a computer powered speaker which offered a much wider frequency response (e.g., more bass and a softer sound). An while that wider response might have been more "pleasant" to my ears, I personally have found that I can better understand and pick out weak signals with the frequency response of the ICOM speaker. I just spent quite a bit of time this weekend (March 1st & 2nd 2025) working the DX contest, and I am now totally sold on this speaker. ... show more
