I like that these are super soft and feel like amazing quality, as always, from Icebreaker. I got mine on a super deal for around $30 which was a total steal for such a stellar product. I ordered small since that size was on sale and worried it wouldn’t fit but they have a lot of stretch and do just fine. The fly is just easy enough to access/stretchy without feeling cut off or pinched (guys know what I mean) but still enough to cover you. The blue color is deep but vibrant and very masculine. I have a number of base layer bottoms and these by far best Smartwool in their feel, simplicity and 100% wool fabric. Highly recommended ... show more

These are insanely well priced, however… 1) the thickness: 175 merino is thin. Some of my t-shirts are 150 merino and they felt thicker. Still, they’d be decent for a base layer under shell pants (boarding/skiing). These will be extremely prone to runs from any kind of snag. Stretching them reveals how thing the material is. Make sure your toenails are well pedicured. 2) the fit: at 5’7” 130lb the small was too loose. I have a skier’s physique and they just weren’t form fitting enough, even through the thighs. 3) the verdict: I sent these back even though the price was almost low enough to justify using them as pajama bottoms in the winter. ... show more

I have been using the upper body variant for some time, going out in winter in the -10F with two or three stacked then a good sweater and was hoping to find the pants equivalent. Well, there you go. I only have one pair of these but the when I walk in the wilderness my legs do heat up somewhat and these plus a simple pair of jeans is enough to keep me warm and comfy even well below freezing as long as I walk. You can sweat in them and won't feel cold thereafter as you would with cotton. The other important remark about these or their torso counterpart is how well they control body odor. It is quite amazing. This makes it the absolute best underpants for trekking in winter. Some will say they are quite expensive - true but they are worth every penny. ... show more
