Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
I had to remove an aging saddle valve after rerouting the water supply to my refrigerator. After cutting the pipe and cleaning up the cut edges I centered a viega no stop coupling over the cut in the pipe and used the tool. Worked perfectly. Despite somewhat tight quarters, I had enough room for the tool. I found it easier to rotate the tool head 90 degrees relative to the handle. The effort is minimal until the last few strokes of the handle and then a bit of effort is required. Worth every penny to avoid calling a plumber or having to learn to solder on a wet pipe. Yes, I could have used a push on coupling but wanted the added security of pro-press. The tool is well made and satisfying to use. I expect to use it again as the need arises for myself or friends/ neighbors. ... show more

  • Works Well and Cost Effective. Highly Recommend.
Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
This Pro-press crimping tool worked perfectly as intended. I needed to install a ball valve on a water pipe and had the job done in less than 30 minutes. A plumber likely would have charged $500. Paid for itself in one use and although I won’t use it often I’m sure I’ll need it again. It takes some strength to do the crimping but not too much and it feels like a quality tool. ... show more

  • Good tool for the money
Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
I just got through using this tool on my shower plumbing, all 1/2" copper tubing and used Viega ProPress fittings. It is a little tricky in some tight situations because you not only have to have room for the tool, but also room for pumping the handle. If you have the room, it does an excellent job. Not a single leak, no problem with 90 degree fittings. One of the really handy things about using these fittings, you don't have to have a dry connection like you do when soldering. I actually had a small flow of water when I crimped on the new shutoff valve. The only reason I took 1 star off is because the pipe cutter included in the kit is junk, in my opinion. To get an electric tool to do the same job will cost $1,000 and more. ... show more

  • Great crimper for 1” tube. This hydraulic design is far superior to manual bture force products.
Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
Nicely designed and built crimper. The hydraulic mechanism works well and nicely sealed all of the 1” fittings of my plumbing project. No leaks, no problems, not excessively heavy, requires manageable force - great product

  • No complaints
Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
Was a little skeptical when I saw a couple negative reviews but that must have been operator error. I had no issues at all. Granted the head is big but I would assume the power ones are the same so a small bit of planning is needed. I had no issues. I even crimped T fittings , you just need to angle the head on a 45. Takes about 10 pumps to crimp but it is not hard. Had zero leaks after the install and even had to twist one of the fittings 90° after a crimp to get things to line up and it still did not have any leaks. So far I have only done 1/2-in copper. Even if I never use it again, it was well worth it. Fyi the fittings are expensive and I had to go to a plumbing supply place to get All the fittings I needed and I got the thicker copper tubing to be safe. ... show more

  • Wow, this was easy
Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
I just purchased this and used it to install a hot water heater. Since this was a different type of water heater there were a lot of moving the pipes to new locations and a lot of new connections and this device made it so simple, quick and easy. I love it. I hate sweating pipes and this removed that as an issue. I did have to go back and repress one connection but no big deal, I probably didn't press hard enough the first time. This is so much a time/money saver. Two notes - the manual needs a better English proof reader as it obviously was not written by someone who knows English. Also, the manual says to replace the hydraulic oil once a year - really? Also, if you go this way for connecting pipes remember that the fittings are much more expensive that regular copper fittings - but that is not the fault of this device. I will also note to buy the fittings on-line as in store there is a huge markup. Finally, buy this, it is well made, very substantial, and gets the job done well. Buying it only cost me a few dollars more than renting it at the local HD so go and buy this. I love it! ... show more

  • Works well except on Ts
Pattern Name: for Copper Pipe
All Ts available at local hardware stores will not work with this unit. It can crimp the sides but the bottom of the T cannot be crimped as the sides hit the crisper. If the bottom of the Ts were longer it would work but I checked 4 brands at 3 stores. All are made the same. Kind of a major flaw.
