This has proven to be an excellent solution to mounting my phone in my car. I got the metal version, and I highly recommend it - particularly if you're using a strong magnet to hold your phone (like HaloLock, ESR - I suspect that a plastic mount would break being subjected to temperature changes and the force required to remove the phone.) I initially wished that the entire mount was the flat black color, but it ultimately doesn't matter that the ball is silver - it ends up being covered by the socket of the mount. It consists of the Proclip custom mount for the Honda Fit GK part#855056, this iBolts AMPS adapter plate 17mm ball, and Lisen Magsafe Magnetic cellphone mount. Works well together. This is a good ball mount for a cell phone holder. I used it to install a phone holder in my ATV. Hold the phone very secure. Came with machine screws. I used some black sheet metal screws to mount this to the dash on the ATV

The holes were the exact fit for my gps mount. Easy to secure with the nuts and bolts that were with the ball mount. Didn't have to use the adhesive strip that came with it. The ball is aluminum; a lot others are plastic, seems better than some.

I have a Garmin GPS and finally got tired of the suction cup always failing and taking the wire down with it. I built my own bracket out of sheet metal that attaches under the headlinder to the visor bolt assembly; and a secondary contact point on the windshield w/ a double sided 3m sticky for extra stability. This 4-bolt ball mount is a perfect fit (17mm) for the Garmin and works just fine. I got the plastic one and it seems very sturdy. Only 4 stars because the bag of machine screws/nuts only came with 3 screws and 4 nuts. Lol. Luckily I have a couple machine screws laying around so it wasn't a big deal ... show more

Very solid mount. Standard 17mm ball fit the socket on my phone charger well. Metal/aluminum should last forever over plastic. They should finish the ball in black as well but most of it will be hidden by the device mounted to it.

I have a large gps for my RV which we put on the dash with a weighted mount and it bounced all over. I mounted this to an open area on the dash and it stays in place. Big bumps sometimes tilt it but that’s to be expected.
