Description

For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. Embraced by bassists over the decades, the iconic series continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics. The SR305E is a handsome 5-string bass designed for the experienced player. The bass starts with an immaculately finished Mahogany body. Other features include a sturdy 5-piece Maple/Rosewood SR4 neck, a Rosewood fretboard, and an Accu-cast B125 bridge for superior string vibration transfer and precise intonation. Cosmo Black hardware adds a hint of stealth. At the heart of the SR305E’s electronics are two PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups. Their stainless pole pieces offer higher output, clarity, and fullness than any in the SR305’s class. Accessed by the 3-way “Power Tap” switch, these proprietary pickups offer a choice of three tonal personalities: A rich humbucker sound, a pure single-coil sound, or an enhanced single coil sound— fattened by lows from the humbucker pickups. Add the ability to dial in precise tone preferences via the Ibanez Custom 3-band EQ, and the SR305E is a musical chameleon.

This is my second SDGR Bass and they both play great. I ordered this to track in lower tunings with my 7 string guitar because I wanted to tune low without filing the nut and making the stings loose. The D'addario XL strings it ships with sound great in drop or standard A flat. The pickups sound fat, with lots of clarity in all positions. The pots and switch are an easy way to dial in your sound (the pickups stay in phase with all settings). Intonation was easy to set up, tuning stability is reliable and the action can be set fairly low before any string buzz. I ordered the Siverburst finish which makes the lighter fretboard stain stand out. The body contour feels great when recording during long sessions. So far this looks like the last bass I'll be buying for my studio which is definitely a good thing. ... show more

Works great for 90% when the treble boost/cut knob is turned close to max or min it causes static or silence until adjusted

I wanted a versatile 5 string bass that doesn't break the bank, and the Ibanez SR305E does everything I expected. It sounds good, plays easy, looks sleek... what's not to like?

Great beginner 5-string bass guitar. It sounds decent and I have had no problems with it since I purchased it. The only “issue” that I had was that I had to screw a few semi-loose screws, but apart from that nothing critical. However you can honestly find a better deal at your local music store.

I've played bass for over 20 years and this is my first 5 string bass. The bass feels and plays great just what you come to expect from Ibanez. The pre-amp is a nice plus in combination with the great pickups on this bass. If you're a pro or a beginner for the price you cannot go wrong.

I bought this bass to be awesome, and that's what I was for about a year until I sold it for what I bought it for (not sure if it's because they hold their value, or if the awesome that rubbed off onto me from the bass affected my salesmanship.) Playabilitywise, this bass had some decently workable action, I could really SLAP this bass. For that, I will SLAP the 5 stars on this review. Approved ... show more

    • Damaged Bass Pickup
Everything came fine besides the pickups. The pickup was loose and was not bolted down to the bass. It came stripped and the pickups had wood scraps on them. And shipping to return was really expensive. Would not order again though.
