  • Beautiful Bass, Same issue on two of them.
Style: Guitar
This is the second one of these I've received. The first was a sunburst and had control issues right out of the box. The tone and one of the volume pots were very difficult to turn and made mechanical scraping noises. I returned that one and bought a second in black. Received it and experienced the identical issue. I was somewhat surprised considering these were not "no name" sub $100 basses. I removed the access panel behind the controls and visually inspected them. seeing no issue I closed it up and inspected the knobs from the top. I noticed that the two malfunctioning knobs were pushed against the surface of the body and the working one was not. The knobs were impossible to remove by hand and there was no room for a screwdriver blade under the knobs. I wrapped the knob in felt and used pliers to gently pull up on the knob. I lifted the knob to the height of the working one and repeated with the other. Now all knobs work as designed. It seems that during shipping the knobs are pushed against to body by impact. There was no damage to the body or knobs so I'll be keeping this one. The bass played well right out of the box but doing a simple setup improved it greatly. Other than the knob issue the fit and finish was excellent. I have arthritis in my fingers and wrists and I could no longer fret and span my beloved 34" P bass or J bass. Thanks to short scale I can still play and gig. This one has a 28.5" scale length and is a dream to play. My fingers and wrists can handle the fret spacing of the neck. Hopefully there's many years left on the stage. And fear not! I'm a fairly big guy and the Mikro bass body does not look like a toy. It's light and balanced and sounds awesome. ... show more

  • TERRIBLE Experience
Style: Guitar
Absolutely disgusted with how this company handled my return of this unused item. I opened the box to find it was not the item I wanted and NEVER used it better yet scratched it like they stated. Iv now been scammed out of money an did the runaround for a month with both Amazon and Gear Tree to get any sort of refund which is ridiculous. Extremely dissatisfied in all aspects. ... show more

  • Ibanez GSRM black bass is a perfect entry level bass for the price
Style: Guitar
Ibanez is synonymous with quality products and this bass is high on quality at a bargain price. This is my first bass and at an entry level I wanted a short fret board and one my smaller hands could easily and comfortably navigate. The gloss black finish is beautiful and the silver hardware compliments the black finish perfectly. I can sit on my couch with no strap attached and the bass sits comfortably on my thigh and is perfectly balanced as I play. The body has a good solid feel to it........yet it is only about seven pounds. The pickup configuration has warm lows and a nice hi midrange that makes for a nice clean tone. I already own an Ibanez GR120-EX electric guitar and the GSRM bass is a great addition to my collection. I highly recommend this bass for any entry level player and I recommend all Ibanez products for all players or collectors. For the price, this bass is an instrument that will last a lifetime if treated well. Music is life......live well. ... show more

  • Sweet little over-achiever - nice bass guitar at any price
Style: Guitar
Forgive me for exagerating--I'm still in the ether, falling in love with my new Mikro bass. Everything about it has surpassed my expectations. Straight out of the box, the Mikro was set up nicely. In tune, neck relief and string height on spec, fasteners (eg neck, bridge, tuning machines) all snug. And nice looking! No blemishes or defects. Fingerboard (don't know what wood--looks like rosewood) looks lovely, no fret buzz. I was expecting an el-cheapo bridge, but I really like the solid, finished look of the bridge on my Mikro. Playability of the Mikro suits me just fine. It's comfortable and easy to play. In fact, fretting notes on its slender little neck is almost effortless. The main thing, of course, is sound. I like its tone! I put my favorite flatwound strings on it right away--GHS Precision Flats--and adjusted the truss rod according. In the middle of last night's band rehearsal (hobby band; I'm not a pro) I quietly swapped my Fender Mustang PJ for the new miKro. No comments from anyone--I don't think my bandmates even noticed any difference in the tone. However, I thought my tone was slightly fatter, maybe a little more punchy. So, my friends, count me among the people who like their Ibanez Mikro enough to write a love letter on Amazon. Not everyone is happy with this bass, of course, and Your Mileage May Vary. Best wishes, and "bring some low to the show". ... show more

  • sounds better than comparable full scale basses
Style: Guitar
I am relatively new to bass. I recently bought a 34" scale Ibanez and liked it, but had a hard time reaching frets. bought this and... ohhh wow. what I struggled with suddenly became incredibly easy. For those of you who worry that a short scale bass is somehow inferior to a full scale bass. never believe it. The sound of this is just as good, if not better than comparable full scale basses. and this fretboard is as easy to use as a classic guitar's. The setup was good right from the box although it was out of tune. the action was a bit high compared to what I was used to, but I was surprised at how well it played. it was clean and rich. I decided to leave it high for a while then play around with optimizing it later. Being an amateur luthier, my full scale bass will soon become a short scale mash project. I'm sure I will need to make major mods but that's what makes it fun. I will never buy full scale again. I plan to design and build custom short scale basses as a result of trying this. Right after finishing the from scratch violin I am building, that is. By the way... install flat wound, short scale strings, especially for a beginner. they really do make a difference. But I advise against full scale flats, stay with the short scale ones. They are harder to find, but worth the effort. ... show more

  • You can rock with this little guy
Style: Guitar
You can rock with this little guy! its simply the best value among the low budget basses, Ibanez did a good job, I recommend this for players having hardship playing full size bass due to small hands/fingers. Its also light weight which makes it easy to move around. After I tried many different brands, I am keeping this one. ... show more
