We have an 11 year old rescue cat. She's already been operated on 2x for bladder crystals (which cost a lot of money). The doctor insisted that I give her the food they recommended, (which also cost a lot). But, my cat hated it, and wouldn't eat it. In frustration I ended up giving her other food. Hence, her second operation just 8 months after the first. We moved last summer to another state, and couldn't get the food from the vet's office. I offer a few different kinds of dry food for my cat family and they all seem to prefer this one. I have several large, neutered male cats and urinary health is a big deal to me. I have lived the nightmare of a neutered male cat getting the urinary blockage and needing surgery, many years ago. It happens from eating cheap, high ash content foods. So I am very mindful of the food these big boys get. Everyone is doing great on this food. They are healthy, happy, soft, active and thankfully none have had any urinary problems. When our cat was diagnosed with urinary stones he was placed on a rx diet. As you can imagine the price for a rx diet is VERY high. I ordered online and had a routine shipment. When my rx ran out and I couldn't get into the vet for over 2-months I had to make a change. I was very concerned for my cats health but noticed a few other reviews noted that they had switched over to this food and one even mentioned a vet said it could be a replacement. Given I had very little choices at the time, I made the switch. Of course I wanted my cat like a hawk during the initial change. Cats can be picky and sometimes you need to gradually change their food over time. Thankfully for me, our cat didn't have any issues with this change. The flavor must be good as he eats every piece and begs for more. The price is 1/2 what I was paying for the rx food and I believe the ingredients to be just as good. ... show more

My cat tends to get urinary issues. I alternate between this and Science Diet. Honestly I am not sure if this helps as we still have issues, but the cats definitely like the taste. Price isn't bad either.

This food has helped me with my two cats. I switched my black kitty to the orange IAMs bag, and noticed her private area smelled like urine. So I switched her back it has been over a week and the smell is gone. She is a picky eater (you can't tell by her size) but she is and she likes the urinary tract food. I'm thankful. She didn't have a bladder infection but strong ammonia/urine smell. My other cat had urinary problems. She was 16 years old. This helped her a lot. She was going potty outside the litter box. After being on this food for a week she stopped doing that. I recommend trying this if your cat has any urinary problems. ... show more

Saved me thousands of dollars!!! My cat would redevelop crystals within a few weeks. The vet food is close to 50 bucks a bag and this food works better at a fraction of the price. 6 months and no crystals!!!!

Iams is known for quality ingredients in their pet foods. If you don't want to spend a fortune for prescription cat food from the vet, Iams is the way to go. Our cat is adjusting to the taste after years of being on prescription food. Will be buying more in the future.
