This is a pretty good light. I use UV flashlights mostly for rock hunting, as many kinds of minerals fluoresce under 365nm light (see photo of sodalite fluorescing orange). It’s fun to just walk around at night and see what glows: certain species of lichens and fungi really pop in wild colors under UV. Certain animals fluoresce as well, like the Mediterranean geckoes found here. Scorpions do too, but there aren’t any around here, thankfully. Anyway, back to the light: it’s small and convenient, fits in a pocket, easy to grab it on your way out the door for an evening walk. It’s reasonably solidly built out of aluminum. This one uses a water-resistant rubber cap on the USB-C port for charging the battery, which (as I recall) is a common 18650 cell. The LED module is quite bright, and, importantly, this light has a UV pass filter. Every 365nm UV LED I’ve seen puts out quite a bit of visible light along with the UV, which can interfere with seeing fluorescence in samples. The filter cuts the visible light *way* down, meaning faint fluorescence is much easier to see, and the colors aren’t washed out. I believe it’s a filter material called ZWB2, which is the usual filter glass used for this wavelength. However, the filter isn’t perfectly transparent at 365nm, a very small amount of UV light is blocked as well, which means an equivalent, unfiltered light may have a longer range. I don’t think that’s a big issue, I can still spot fluorescent objects 10 or 15 feet away in typical suburban night conditions. I’m quite happy with this light. ... show more

I picked this up to use to find urine spots from the dogs. Sometimes you can smell it but just can’t locate it - this little flashlight works great! See pics. WARNING: Use with caution in bathrooms! My wife ended up cleaning both bathrooms after seeing them with this light! Light itself has a tight hotspot with a bit of spill. I wish the hotspot was a bit bigger but have had no issues finding urine and vomit spots even ones I have cleaned. The side switch works well. The body is a bit thin and the tail cap threads aren’t the greatest but this is not an EDC light. Charging port works fine and charges to 4.2V on the included 2600mah 18650 cell. You can also pull it out and charge on your own charger if you prefer or use other 18650’s. Overall quite happy with the UV performance and good enough build quality.
