I bought this to use as a plant stand and to add decoration to my living room and I’m definitely happy with my purchase. It fits nicely in the corner of my living room and my plant gets plenty of light since it’s not an enclosed shelf. Super easy to put together, though I will say I accidentally put the shelves on backwards at first. An easy fix, but make sure the shelves stick out a bit in the front and not the back. I am impressed. The design of the unit is impressive. It arrives in a approx 15x15 box and I was concerned about the sturdiness of the item when assembled. It uses an interior post and screws to attach the poles to form the legs. Once you build the legs and attach the shelves as well as the cross braces the unit becomes quite sturdy. The price was less than $40 and the size perfect for me. My only observation is that the instructions are not great. If you are handy you will be OK but if you aren’t you may struggle with the instructions.

The shelves seem relatively sturdy for how small they are. I don't have them anchored to the wall, but I don't think I'll need to, even on my carpeted floor. I don't understand all the reviewers saying that the instructions were unclear and they put it together and took it apart several times. Even without reading the instructions, as long as you clearly look at the photos and see all the details there, it's pretty straightforward. But you also have the written instructions to ensure you don't attach the shelves or the side bars backwards. I'm no engineer, so I think that either the instructions have been updated since most of those reviews were written or people are just not looking clearly at the images and reading the instructions fully. Mostly, it's just a lot of screws, but it didn't even take that long, maybe 30 minutes doing it solo. I'd recommend for an affordable, small space shelves.

I bought this with the intention of using it in the living room but the other piece of furniture I bought was too big so this wouldn’t fit. I decided to use it as my bedside table in my bedroom and what a great idea that was. I keep a lot of medication, supplements, skincare, and beverages by my bed and this ladder shelf gives me the space I need to keep everything organized and not so cluttered. It’s sturdy enough for me, but I know if my destructive 1 yr old grandson was left alone with it he would destroy it in no time. It was super easy to assemble and it’s really functional. I love it.

I'm a 70 year old female. All parts included, plus some extras, product pieces in perfect condition, was able to put it together by myself except when joining the bottom shelf to the frame - asked for an extra pair of hands (although I think it could have been done with the extra help). Afterwards continued on my own. Looks nice, sturdy. Great buy for the money. You need to pay close attention to the pictures for assembly. It would have been good if the instructions showed on Step 1 that the J part 90 degree angle is facing you as you look at it on the page. I bought the 17.3 wide shelf unit.
