Look. These are real cheap. We all know it. And they look WAY better than I expected. The shiny vinyl is pretty convincing unless you're way up close, and if you've got other pieces of armor or garb, this'll blend right in and add to the overall look. You can even weather the vinyl with a paint wash and help it look a bit more convincing. The main downside is the straps are the expected low quality pleather, and will definitely start falling apart after some uses. Be prepared to replace them, or back the straps with some duct/gorilla tape. You may also need to punch some additional holes if you've got thinner forearms.

For the price these are great! They are perfect for roleplay, medieval faire costumery or a even a quirky look going to a club. They are made entirely out of vinyl (faux leather) and you have to look really close at the scales to tell they're not actually metal. The patterns are all cut out perfectly, the sewing and rivets are perfect and there's plenty of room for adjustment with the buckle straps. If you have some flappy piece hanging off that bothers you then just snip it off with scissors. The inside of the bracers are very soft and I have to point out how comfortable they are, especially compared to a lot of other larger bracers I have had. They allow for flexibility and do not cut into my wrist as is often the case with this type of design. They also tended to stay in place and not spin around or slide too much up or down on my arm after extended wear, so I was very happy about that. The downside is that, as is typical with this kind of synthetic material, it has a bit of a chemical smell. I'm extra sensitive to that kind of thing but it probably won't bother most people. Once you get them out in the air though, the smell lightens up considerably. After a week they stopped putting off the smell almost entirely and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. The other downside is that unlike real leather, there's no breathability or absorbability to the material so if you get a little hot, like say walking around out in the sun, they can make your forearms quite sweaty. Not really a big deal and maybe you're not a sweaty forearms kind of person anyway. Overall, great quality for the price. They are far more durable than just one use and I wear them all the time while doing swordplay and martial arts. If you want genuine leather & metal functioning bracers then you are looking at $75+. But if you want something that not only looks flashy and awesome but is comfortable to wear, and has good durability, I couldn't give a better recommendation.

These will be excellent for my husband's viking costume. They are lighter than expected, as the scales are not real metal but rather silver mirror finish vinyl. This also makes the cuffs more flexible. They look great though, like real metal.

Gauntlets not marked left or right. Easy to grab wrong one in a hurry, even if these are a "normal" item for the wearer. Granted, pic was taken after 10 hours of wear, but you can see the gap on the right forearm, due to belt-straps not moving in a sideways fashion. Could also use an easier way to hide/buckle excess straps away from decoration, or possibly reversing strap direction. We ended up tucking excess under the "scales". These issues made adjustments a 2-person job. Quality is fine, looked good except for the awkward fit. Except for the design flaws, were very well made, and appear to very durable. 3rd generation costume maker was quite pleased with the stitching and other binding, for instance. Still a good value, will probably last for years of careful wear and care, just be prepared to need extra time or extra hands, perhaps both, for proper fit.

I will need to include a picture later, but these arrived just as described and pictured! The silver metallic pleather surface is glossy and highly reflective. Tough and comfortable, well-crafted forearm costume armor! I would buy these again, wish they made them in gold color.
