  • Excellent Sound Quality in a Compact, Plug and Play Mic Excellent Sound Quality in a Compact, Plug and Play Mic
The HyperX SoloCast 2 is an outstanding USB condenser microphone that delivers clear, professional quality audio in a simple and compact design. Right out of the box, it is truly plug and play. Setup takes seconds with no complicated software needed, making it perfect for gaming, streaming, podcasting, online meetings, and voice chats. The sound quality is crisp and natural, capturing voices clearly without distortion. It does a great job of focusing on your voice while minimizing background noise, which is a huge plus whether you are gaming late at night or recording in a shared space. The cardioid pickup pattern works exactly as it should, keeping the audio clean and focused. One of my favorite features is the tap to mute sensor with the LED indicator. It is extremely convenient during live sessions and meetings, allowing you to mute instantly without fumbling for buttons or software controls. The build quality feels solid and premium despite its compact size, and it fits nicely on any desk without taking up too much space. Overall, the HyperX SoloCast 2 offers incredible performance for its price. It is reliable, beginner friendly, and delivers sound quality that rivals more expensive microphones. Whether you are a gamer, content creator, or just need a high quality mic for everyday use, this microphone is a fantastic choice and well worth the investment. ... show more

  • Very solid mic! Very solid mic!
Great mic, excellent value! This mic is of top quality. Very solid mic, easy to connect, and sounds great! Has an adjustable base and standard mic mount female threads on the bottom for those who prefer a boom. The only issue I can see having is the type C connection on the lower back left side. It’s not super secure. I’d advise using a boom and securing cable to the boom itself via zip tie or tape so that it remains secure. If you move around a lot with this mic, I’m sure it will come unplugged. Seems to be the only design flaw I can find. Otherwise, this is a beautiful mic and works perfectly. ... show more

  • Good quality and price.
I was looking for a less expensive mic setup for a second computer. Didn’t want to deal with another XLR setup. Mic worked great right out of the box and audio quality is not bad. Would recommend.

  • Excellent mic for the price with impressive range
I picked up the HyperX SoloCast 2 mainly because of the price, and honestly, it ended up exceeding my expectations. It’s noticeably cheaper on Amazon than at most other retailers, which already made it feel like a good deal before even plugging it in. Sound quality is where this mic really shines. You can be surprisingly far away from it and still be heard clearly. I tested this from across the room, easily 25 to 30 feet away, and my voice still came through without cutting out or sounding distant. That alone makes it great for casual gaming, voice chats, or even quick recordings without needing to sit directly in front of it the entire time. That said, the sensitivity is both a pro and a con. While it picks up your voice extremely well, it also picks up everything else. Even with noise suppression enabled in something like a Discord voice channel, background sounds are still noticeable. If you’re in a shared space or have a lot of ambient noise, that’s something to be aware of. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but it’s worth mentioning. Build wise, it feels solid and well thought out. The cord is very long, around 3 feet to the computer, which gives you plenty of flexibility for desk setup. It also comes ready to be mounted to a boom arm if you want to go that route, which is a nice option at this price point. I also like that you can angle the mic instead of it being locked in one straight position. One of my favorite features is the tap to mute function. Tapping the top of the mic to mute is super convenient and works exactly as expected, which is great during gaming or calls when you need to quickly mute yourself. Shipping was fast too. It arrived within about 2 days of ordering, which was a nice bonus. Overall, this is an excellent USB mic for the price. It sounds great, has useful features, and feels well built. As long as you’re aware that it’s very sensitive to background noise, it’s an easy 5 star recommendation, especially for gaming or everyday voice use. ... show more

  • Clean Sound on a Budget – Just Add a Boom Arm
I bought the HyperX SoloCast 2 because my headset mic was making me sound like I was in a tunnel during work calls and game chat. I travel a lot for business and sometimes record quick voiceovers in hotel rooms, so I wanted a compact USB mic that’s plug-and-play, doesn’t need an audio interface, and has a mute button I can hit fast. I used to live in Florida, now I’m in Delaware, and between Zoom meetings and Discord with friends, I needed something that makes my voice clear without a lot of setup. My expectation: decent 24-bit/96kHz audio, simple controls, and it shouldn’t pick up my whole house. What you get & first impressions It’s a small black cylinder with a built-in stand that tilts, USB-C port, and a tap-to-mute button on top with a red LED. Comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable. It’s light, around 365g, and the base feels stable enough for a desk. The mic has an internal pop filter and shock mount, plus a threaded bottom if you want to put it on a boom arm later. Pros – what works for me Voice quality is good for the price: My voice comes through full and rounded, not thin like most headset mics. It records at 24-bit / 96kHz and sounds “clear and present”. Teammates noticed the upgrade right away in Discord. For casual streaming, calls, and quick voiceovers, it’s more than enough. Plug and play, no hassle: Windows picked it up immediately. No drivers, no mandatory software. The mute button is responsive and the red light makes it obvious when you’re live. That’s handy mid-call. Compact and portable: It’s smaller than a soda can and USB powered, so it fits in my backpack when I travel. The built-in stand tilts, which helps aim it without a separate mount. You can also unscrew it and put it on a boom arm. Internal pop filter helps: Plosives are reduced compared to a naked mic, though not eliminated. You can get close for a “radio” sound without every P popping. Value for money: At around $59.99 MSRP, it’s priced like a budget mic but sounds closer to mid-range options. Reviewers call it “relatively cheap, well-made” and “strong value for beginners”. Cons – where it falls short Picks up background noise: This is a sensitive condenser. It hears my keyboard, PC fans, and even the fridge in the other room if I don’t control the space. One user said “it picks up everything, and I mean everything”. The internal shock mount and pop filter are “on the weaker side”, so desk taps and plosives still get through. Stand is low and basic: The tilt helps, but it’s still too low for ideal mic placement. You’ll be looking down to talk into it. For best sound, you want it on a boom arm 6-8 inches from your mouth. Most reviewers say “we definitely recommend mounting this mic on a boom arm”. No onboard gain knob: You have to adjust gain in Windows or Ngenuity Beta software. The software gives EQ and noise reduction, but it’s still in beta and caps output at 48kHz if you use effects. Red light means on, not muted: Counterintuitive for some – red LED = live, not muted. I got used to it, but it confused me at first. Practical uses I use it for Teams/Zoom calls, Discord, light YouTube voiceover, and recording notes. It’s much better than a laptop or headset mic. For travel, it’s easy – one cable, small footprint. It won’t replace an XLR setup for pro music or podcasting, but for gaming, streaming, and office work it’s solid. If you have a mechanical keyboard, either use software noise reduction or get the mic off the desk. Did it meet expectations? Yes, with one condition. I expected clear, simple USB audio for calls and gaming, and it delivers that. I didn’t expect studio-level isolation. The background noise pickup was expected for a condenser, so I planned to use a boom arm and Nvidia Broadcast. Once I did that, voice-to-noise ratio was fine. If you think the built-in stand and pop filter will solve everything, you’ll be disappointed. Value for money For around $60, you get clean 24-bit audio, USB-C, mute button, and a usable stand. That’s fair. You’ll likely spend another $15-$30 on a boom arm to get the best out of it, so factor that in. Compared to headset mics it’s a big step up. Compared to a $150 XLR setup, it’s not, but it doesn’t pretend to be. ... show more

  • The Perfect Low-Profile Mic for Streamers & Gamers | Clear Audio, One Quirk
Form Factor & Desktop Integration The SoloCast 2 is remarkably low-profile and compact. For anyone running a "stealth" or minimalist gaming setup, this is easily the best ever in terms of footprint. It sits comfortably under a monitor without cutting off your field of view during a match. While I’m currently using the desk stand, the fact that it’s threaded for a boom arm is a massive plus—I plan on mounting it soon to get it off the desk and closer to my mouth for even better isolation. Pro-Level Utility: The Mute Tap The touch-sensitive mute button on top is flawlessly executed. It’s silent and responsive, which is super handy when you need to cough or talk to someone in the room without your Discord teammates hearing a loud "click." A Minor UI Suggestion: If I could change one thing, I’d reverse the red status light logic. Right now, the light stays on while you're live. It would be far more intuitive if the light turned on only when muted, acting as a clear "Warning: Muted" indicator. Sound Quality & "The Zone" The audio is very clear and loud, outperforming many larger, more expensive USB mics I've tested. However, you need to understand its pickup pattern: The Pro: It is strictly designed to pick up audio from directly in front of the capsule. This is excellent for gaming because it naturally filters out mechanical keyboard clacks and PC fan hum. The Con: Because it is so directional, if you stand up or move off to the side, your audio will drop off significantly. It’s a design choice that rewards staying in the "sweet spot." Pros: - Tiny footprint; doesn't clutter the desk. - Silent, capacitive mute sensor that's sensitive - Plug-and-play via USB-C. - Threaded for easy boom arm mounting. Cons: - Status light logic feels backward. - Short "reach" if you aren't sitting directly in front of it. ... show more

  • Great Teams Mic
Solid mic quality. I use it daily for teams meetings and it sounds crisp. Definitely get a lot of compliments on the sound quality. Get a boom arm or something to keep the mic close to your mouth as it's meant to be closer.
