It works well with any dimmer switch which let's you control the "temperature"/brightness. It is 36" wide and produces 2200 lumens, or 36 watts--enough to brighten a large room. This is a large bright light fixture. Ceiling mounted close to ceiling, lightweight with a plastic cover surrounded by brushed nickel finish. Very modern and stylish. Just turn off electricity, match wires, white to white, black to black, twist wires and put on the correct size of wire nut, that's the plastic cap you twist on so wires are protected from the other wires. Also don't forget the ground wire. That's the copper wire to make sure your fixture is safe. Usually a screw on the fixture will have GND on it to indicate where to wrap the bare copper wire to.
