I bought these lights over a year ago and it took me some time to install because I was just so busy and also wasn't sure how they would actually come because they were so in expensive, but when I did install them ,holly crap I wish I did it sooner they are some of the best recessed lights I've owned and so easy to install and turned my dark room into a bright room that looks so much bigger now ,just remember to get the right dimmer switch for what you need and you'll be all set .

The recessed fixtures are so slick. Installation was quick. Literally the bomb diggity of adding recessed lighting to an existing room. (No remodel or new build in this house-just needed to light up some space). Being able to choose brightness was a plus. Have had them for over a year now. 2 of the 20 that were put in occasionally act like a strobe light in a 70's disco Tech. Flip the switch off and back on and it quits. I do plan to replace them just haven't had the 1 minute it will literally take to do it. The strobe effect is the only reason I reduced overall rating.

I'm sorry but these are simply poor quality lights that flicker and fail often and consistently. I remodel houses a couple times a year and decided to try these lights in a newly remodeled backhouse. Bought the 12 pack and 3 of the 12 were dead on arrival. Once installed they flickered intermittently. The mfg told me I needed a special compatible dimmer switch so i bought the exact recommended switch. Well it worked for a week and then the same thing. I then got a warranty swap for the lights and replaced all of them. Guess what, same issue and now every 6 months one of the lights just dies. It's been less than 2 years and nothing but problems. Learn from my mistake, save your money and try another brand.

I ordered a total of three 12 packs of these lights for our finished basement project. Over the past year I've had to replace 10 of them due to the junction boxes which include the LED driver failing. The LED lights themselves last a long time, but the driver boxes fail frequently. This requires previously installed junction boxes to be unscrewed from the joists, unwired, and the whole process repeated with a new junction box, all through a spacious and brightly lit 6" hole. I now have tons of extra LED lights, but I've run out of all the extra junction boxes I had. The ones that function work great, but a 33% failure rate on the junction boxes is unacceptable. Now that I'm out of driver boxes, I'll be going with a different brand, hopefully with better luck so I don't spend the rest of my life replacing these lights in perpetuity.

A hundred dollars for twelve recessed lights with junction boxes really seemed like a risk when considering that traditionally recessed can lighting is around five times the price. But at $8 a light and Prime, it was worth trying out. I will say that these are inexpensively made and that where a penny could be shaved it was. But all of that is hidden away and never seen once installed. For instance the junction box is made of some of the thinnest metal I've seen used for such a box but it's enough to do the job. The length of wire that's supplied to connect to is barely long enough to work with - it could have easily been another 4 inches longer but it's not. The lights ship with wire nuts which are adequate but it would be easier to use the push in connectors when wiring because of the tight space. On the negative side of things, there were two lights that were "damaged" - there's a plug between the junction box and fixture and in one case the male end of the plug didn't have enough plastic injected and so it was formed without threads - the plug still worked but there was no mechanical interlock. In the second case, again with the plug, the gasket that seals the connection was missing. Neither issue was a showstopper. On the plus side you only need about 3/4" clearance to install these counting the thickness of the plaster board so they can go pretty much anywhere without regard to what's in the ceiling to interfere. And maybe most important is the color selecting switch - it's impossible to know how a room is going to look given how the color of light interacts with the other colors in the room. With these you can try out five different colors and pick the one you like after you've installed them.

Installation is easy. But longevity is TERRIBLE. We have had to replace 6 of these lights since being installed in the past 45 days. Bad thing is it happened after we had put in the insulation.

TLDR: test before installing, customer service will replace any parts. Therefore, definitely a great option! After installing these, I found that two of the 12 units did not function. These units consist of 2 pieces: an LED module and a junction box. To determine what failed, I took the LED modules that didn't initially work and connected them other junction boxes. They worked. I took LED modules from other units that worked and connected them to the 'suspect' junction boxes. They didn't work. This clearly shows that the junction boxes were the defective parts here. The only way to contact customer support was to leave a voicemail message so I wasn't hopeful about getting any help but I was wrong. Sometimes I really enjoy being wrong :) They sent me replacement units and everything is working well! I love the selectable color temperature. When shopping for ceiling lights, I wasn't initially sure what exact color temperature to order for each room but this have me the ability to buy now, test and choose later. They are plenty bright for our home application and I've got them working with Kasa and Lutron dimmer switches. For the installation, I used an adjustable hole saw purchased on Amazon, electrical tape, larger wire nuts (the included ones can't accommodate 12 gage wire), wire strippers, a razor knife, lineman's pliers, and a fish tape. Everything went pretty well. The biggest challenges were fishing the wires and resharpening the hole saw blades after every four or five holes that I drilled into the sheetrock.
