  • Hits all the marks
Color: Blue/Lime Green Size: Long
Wow. This sleeping bag is fantastic. I used it for bikepacking/camping and it compresses VERY small. I bought the large version for extra room at the bottom and I think it was worth it. I'm 5'11 and, although the medium would have worked, I like having the little extra room. This bag is light. It zips from the inside and the interior below the hood has an elastic which can be adjusted for comfort and keeping the heat from your body in without needing too much padding to compensate. The colors are fantastic. Blue/green is such a cool combination, it was hard to pick over the orange/purple. They're vibrant and I think they can be used to be seen if needed. The bag is also very soft. It's light and thin, so I'd recommend using a sleeping pad, which I believe is just universally accepted for camping, I haven't slept in it over carpet. The bag hits the mark on all advertised features and I think it was a worthy investment long as it continues to last (it feels like it will). ... show more

  • Great quality summer bag
Had a chance to take our new bags into the backcountry of the Olympic National Park this past week and they performed very well. It could very well be a three season bag in many parts of the world. The bags are well made, with excellent stitching and zippers. My size twelve feet had plenty of space, as did my solid six foot frame. As spacious as it is, this down-filled beauty collapsed into a compact, light weight little cylinder. A minute to shake and fluff the bag and it kept us comfortable throughout late summer nights in the mountains. As with any bag, a silk inner sleeve or sleeping clothes are recommended to help ensure a long life. A great bag at a great price. So far, so good. I recommend this bag . ... show more

  • A good bag
Color: Black/Clementine Size: Long
I purchased the long 30 degree 800 FP down bag for general hiking and backpacking. At 6'5" and 200 pounds, the bag fit me well and was comfortable. In the conditions I hike, night time temperatures rarely go below 40 degrees. I'm a cold sleeper, so I figured the 10 degree difference between the bag rating and expected temperatures would be adequate. On unpacking the bag and fluffing it up the filling seemed a bit thin. Five minutes in the dryer on the 'air (no heat)' setting puffed it up a bit, but the bag was still less lofty than I anticipated. I tested the bag on two consecutive nights on my deck. The third night I slept in a 'control,' an REI bag I purchased several years ago with 650 FP down and rated at 20 degrees. All three nights were in the low 30s, a bit lower than I wanted but a good test for the bag. I slept in a dome tent with a Klymit lightweight air mattress for each of the three nights. The first night dropped to 33 degrees. I slept in t-shirt, skivvies, and wool socks, and was decidedly chilly most of the night, waking often to shift positions. The second night, at 34 degrees, I added pajama bottoms and a balaclava for my head and neck. I slept warmly and sound all night. The third night, at 31 degrees, I slept in the control bag and was toasty warm all night. (This bag is often times too warm for summertime temperatures.) Further testing in field conditions will be required, of course, and I fully expect the bag will perform well at 40 degrees or thereabouts. It's good to know that a wool cap and long johns, which I occasionally carry, can extend the temperature rating of this bag. PROS: Compressability. This bag compresses down to almost nothing. Lightweight. The zipper. I forgot to mention the zipper! So far, knock on wood, the zipper has failed to snag. This is a tough feat on any bag, but the Hyke & Byke has accomplished what others can't. CONS: Doesn't seem like a true 30 degree bag. Maybe a 35. Anyway I slept a bit on the cold side. Others mileage may vary. Overall, a good bag which I would recommend. ... show more

  • As Promised!
This bag is exactly what I was after! Extremely lightweight yet wonderfully cozy and made from high quality materials. The down fluffs beautifully yet the bag is SUPER easy to restore into its stuff sack. I bought the short and at 5'1" , 115 lbs., found it a perfect fit. I used it for summer backwoods camping with nighttime temps in the 50s, was toasty, and slept soundly. The company timely communicated order and delivery confirmations, follow-up care information, and appreciation for my purchase. What more could you ask for? ... show more

  • Is as advertised
Color: Black/Clementine Size: Regular
I just used my Hyke & Byke 800 Fill Power Goose Down Sleeping Bag for Backpacking – Eolus 30 Degree F Ultralight this past weekend. I bought it specifically for backpacking and the size and weight is absolutely perfect. The sleeping weather for this weekend was 39-42 degrees and I was very comfortable. I tend to sleep colder now, so I wore fresh thermal underwear (top and bottoms) with socks and a stocking cap. I also had a down mini blanket in the bag with me I bought at Costco. I typically hate the feel of mummy bags because i'm a restless sleeper, but I needed to sacrifice this to get a smaller bag for the pack. With that being said I fit well in the "regular" size bag (I'm 6'1'' and 230). This first run with the bag was a success and as of now I'm planning to use this for our trip to Philmont with the scout troop. Only Concern... The material on the outside is different and I have a slight concern for potential tears/rips. I take good care of my equipment so I believe this should not affect the bags performance. Plus, I feel confidant that that Hyke & Byke will stand behind their product if a problem arises. I have spent hours reviewing bags and settled on this bag because it hit the trifecta of price point, size/weight/comfort rating, and positive reviews. Happy so far and impressed with the company's communication. ... show more
