At first I thought this was a great cap for my coffee bottle. Then it started leaking. So I disassembled it to try to clean it, only to find that it had so many components, that even after disassembling nearly everything and scrubbing the heck out of them, the coffee stains remained on the silicone. And tonight, I discovered yet another o-ring, which I can't get to, to scrub as well. When the cap is screwed to its closed position the vent hole still retains whatever liquid was on the inside. It ended up staining my bag. So I started blowing out whatever liquid was inside the vent hole, but that really didn't do any good. So I got one of those rubber boots hydro flask sells to use that as a secondary cap. Good thing I bought it in a store; it's got a suction hole. I'm not going to return it because it does serve its purpose as a boot, but my intended purpose was to make it a backup cap to stop the "closed" leaks. ... show more

cleaning is a little complicated at first. There are several parts to take apart, but the quality is great and it's easy to do once you've done it once or twice. The problem I have with the "sip cap" is that there's no protection from dirt. Which is fine if you use yours in the house or in a cubicle at work. But if you take it outside walking, biking, on dusty trails, the cap could (will?) get dirty, so you'll either need to cover it with something ahead of time, or wipe it off before use. If you DO need something that will stay clean, Hydro Flask makes a "chug cap" for the wide mouth bottle (32oz in my case) that's covered so the part your mouth/lips touch stays clean. It CAN be difficult to unscrew if you make it too tight, so I emailed them and suggested they make the Chug Cap lower/outer cap knurled to make it easier to remove. ... show more

Works perfectly. Wish I would have got it a long time ago. It’s Leak proof!!! One of the Main reasons I wanted it is so I wouldn’t have to leave my lid ajar to avoid the musty smell. So many times I had knocked it over and spilled :( now I can simply leave the lid on with the spout open for airflow. I like that it shows red when it’s closed and it has a handle. I’ve had my 40oz wide mouth hydro flask for 6+ years and the original lid with straw was not suctioning properly anymore. It would make a high pitch squeal when I’d drink. Well, got this lid and it fits perfectly and doesn’t make any noise while drinking. If you need a new lid, look no further.

I love the look and feel of this lid on my hydro flask! However, not sure why it’s leaving a bit of metal residue on the lip of my flask… which is also effecting the taste. Great look and feel but I feel like without wiping the lip of my flask between every drink I end up tasting the difference between this lid and my plastic one ... show more
