I have a few similarly-sized coolers, but this is the only one that has a rigid exterior with a soft liner. The Coleman I normally use has a hard plastic insert. The soft liner of the Hydro Flask means it can tear, so you do need to be more cautious when carrying certain items, like bottles with metal bottle caps. Aside from that, the rest of the cooler seems very durable and the shoulder strap is definitely handy. I had it full of canned beverages and it got pretty heavy, but using the shoulder strap made it much easier to carry. I also like that the lid has some extra space underneath, so if you overfill the main compartment a little bit, you can still close it up without a problem.

This is large and can hold food and drinks. It has a harder dome top, so it keeps it shape well. It works good for pool parties or beach. It has a nice hand strap and shoulder strap. I would recommend, it's nice quality and true to the brand.

Everything we've ever gotten from Hydro Flask has been of exceptional quality, and this cooler is no different. PROS: 1. Very well insulated. I haven't done any long term coldness tests on it, but it seems like it would hold temps for quite some time. I have no concerns about carrying it along on grocery store visits that also consist of multiple stop afterward. 2. The zippers are bombproof. I accidentally got a plastic produce bag caught in it the first time I used it and was able to forcibly yank the zipper back and forth while I tried to work the bag out. I never noticed even a hint of distress or tendency to become derailed in the zipper. 3. The handles are very well made and seem like they will hold up well for years. There is no padding on the handles, but if you need padding you could always use the shoulder strap. 4. The should strap is top notch. It has fantastic padding, and adjusting the length of the strap is as easy as lifting the adjuster on either side and pulling on the top of the strap. As easy as is it to adjust, you'd think that it would have a tendency to slip under weight, but that hasn't been the case for me at all. Once adjusted, it stays put very well. 5. Overall fit and finish is superb. Inside the cooler, the seams are barely noticeable and have the appearance of a perfect seal. It literally feels like you could fill it with water and not lose a drop to leakage. There outside of the cooler is equally impressive. Every stitch is perfectly clean. At the bottom of each side of each handle is a loop that you could attach things to and it absolutely, positively isn't going to come loose. Last point on fit and finish: when was the last time you bought a product with a significant amount of stitching and didn't find even a hint of a loose thread anywhere? I searched this thing all over, and couldn't find a single flaw in the stitching. It's too bad Hydro Flask doesn't make clothing as well :) CONS: 1. The pocket on the outside is rather smallish and does not have any closure. While this isn't necessarily a con for all people, families with small children might welcome a much larger pocket with a zipper to help carry all the bits and pieces that tend to come along on day trips with small children. Notes: 1. While the shoulder strap is insanely easy to adjust, the padding at the top is fixed in place. While I consider this a big plus, it just means when making adjustments you'll probably want to adjust both sides equally to keep the padding centered rather than just adjusting one side. 2. Like many products using polyethylene, this bag came out of the box with the inside stinking to high heaven. We left it sitting out wide open for a couple of weeks to let it off-gas, and it is fine now. I hope you find this review helpful. Enjoy your new bag.
