I bought this flask because I wanted to have 2L extra for overnight hikes. Also I wanted something that has a filter. This flask hasn't but is compatible with the popular Katadyn be free. So you can sip some dirty water out of a river, creek or alike. Then you can transfer it to your hydration system or drink directly/use for cooking. I initially cleaned it with some citric acid. I didn't experience any smell or taste abnormalities. The flask seems very sturdy and the lid keeps it sealed well. I like that it has various strips so you can hang it up or attach somewhere.
