  • The Product May Be Good But...
The product was in an interesting bottle that posed a challenge to use. The eye drops did come out but not at the time you thought you was initiating. Push bottom bottle was a nightmare to operate for myself trying to use it on someone's eye or when the person doing their own drops could not do. Sad as it may be, the product is probably very good but the bottle design is very intricate and difficult to use especially for elderly hands. I tore the bottle apart and emptied into another bottle in order to save the product. After inspecting the inner workings of the bottle it must have cost more than the product inside. Very unusual to understand how it even works. ... show more

  • Critical for Glaucoma patients
This is an essential and excellent product for anyone with glaucoma. I have read several research articles on the Sodium Hyaluronate (Na H), regarding it's use in patients with glaucoma. I can't locate them right now, since I run a Vision Impairment group & I may have lost them to someone wanting them a few days ago. I will expand on the sources, after I get the abstracts from the publisher. While only the help for seriously chronic dry eyes are touted in the description here, the necessity of NaH product for the retina with glaucoma patients, those of us with very (mine is extreme) disturbing floaters due to vitreous detachments, in addition to scar irritation resulting in chronic corneal inflammation from Radial Keratotomy (RK), and cosmetic eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) are much more important in stopping further pathophysiological deterioration of vision. And I have used Systane Ultra touted by R. Kim in a review of Hycosan Extra 2013, it does not contain the healing products that Na H has. I have very serious dry eye problems due to surgery, trauma, neurotoxins, glaucoma. So after reading several research abstracts I was anxious to order this and try it out. This is a superb product. It may eventually be pulled b/c of new FDA Regs for supplements. However, there are a # of severe disadvantages to the current preparation & delivery of the drop. The tall container and the plunger system is extremely difficult to use. To begin with it is very expensive and to order from England or Germany would be quite costly b/c of shipping and the number of Hyco-San you may wish to purchase. There are not 300 doses in the container. If you are an older person, whether male or female and have lost strength in your hands you will not be able to use it. This becomes more problematic when you live alone. I cannot use it, in spite of workouts with weights, daily walking in steep hills and other exercise, and yes I am 75 y/o and have lost strength. While a # of drops have been wasted by shaking and spilling them on my face, I have only been using the product twice a day for 11 days. I do not have a younger man anywhere near me in the retirement village I live in. Consequently, I have been imposing on a 78 y/o married man twice a day. He is in unbelievable incredible shape for his age, still flying airplanes & working with numerous volunteer activities. However, even he has difficulty using it. I tried another man, also who works constantly at building renovation and is only 70 y/o, but I rarely see him. He also had difficulty dropping the drop in the eye. It is very difficult to hold my eyes open for so long, while the person is attempting to make the viscous drop fall on the pupil. My eyes become even more dry and irritated after the glaucoma med has been instilled & now I have to wait @ least 30 m before the Na Hyaluronate drop is instilled, while the person is struggling to make the drop fall and shaking b/c of the struggle. Since HA is a very viscous solution, I do not know how the manufacturer can remedy this. But I would recommend that you try both this and the Hylo product and if you live in Canada you can get it there behind the counter of numerous pharmacies. ... show more

  • Use these eyedrops - they absolutely work.
Dry eyes have been bothering me for years, getting increasingly bad enough that the dryness wakes me up in the middle of the night, and I'm also increasingly concerned about possible damage caused by the abrasion that happens when dry eyes are rubbing around the inside of your eyelids. I ordered the Hycosan drops after reading the reviews and details about how these drops are completely different than the brands you buy at the drug store. So glad I did. Tried them for the first time before bed last night. These are the first and only eyedrops I've found that don't immediately make my eyes feel even MORE gritty after using them. The drops simply made my eyes feel moist - and that's it. I woke up the next morning feeling at least a 50% improvement, my dry eyes didn't wake me up in the middle of the night for the first time in over a year, and my eyes felt much more clear this morning (I didn't need to flood them with the old eyedrops and then spend 5 minutes washing and rubbing out the gritty feeling). For almost two years, I've gone through every non-prescription eye-drop with the same result: The drops actually made my eyes feel worse - with a few seconds of moisture relief, followed by a half-hour of trying to rub the gritty sandpaper feeling out of my eyes. I also didn't want to try a prescription medication, because the list of possible side-effects (and cost, and the inconvenience of going to the doctor) are a big turn-off. I thought avoiding the eyedrops with preservatives was all I needed to worry about, but in my searches I found reference to something that seems so simple and obvious now, I'm kicking myself for not thinking of this sooner: Many people are sensitive to chemicals. If you get really dry hands when you touch dish-soap, or have unusual reactions to cleaning products or scented sprays or candles, then chances are your eyes will react to chemicals in standard eyedrops. Turns out, I think that was my problem. That gritty sand paper feeling I got immediately after using the old eyedrops is most likely a form of reaction to whatever that standard chemical is. I have had no such reaction to these drops. Highly recommended. I only wish the product were easier to get in the US, but it just took a couple weeks to arrive from overseas. This is also the main reason the price is a bit higher - but you'll forget all about the extra few bucks after using them. UPDATE: It's been over 4 months since I ordered these drops, and I've already ordered another couple of them. My dry-eye problems are almost a non-issue now. I just use the drops before bed (and actually have forgotten a few times -- but didn't experience any discomfort or major symptoms), and then again when I wake up. That's it. Eyes feel 100% now, other than a little irritation from allergies or dust from time to time - which is to say, normal. ... show more
