  • A fraction of the OEM HID bulb cost, and a fraction of the OEM durability
Alrighty, so here we are a little over one year after initial purchase (today is March 26, 2019) and installation of a pair of these. See my initial review from March 22, 2018 below. I had high hopes, but I guess the old saying "You get what you pay for" holds true most of the time. As of tonight, my right front (passenger) side low beam died, which is REALLY incovenient because I've gotta take a road trip the day after tomorrow, and I need my headlights to be WORKING. So, because of the headlight failure after one (1) year, I am knocking my Overall Rating from FOUR STARS down to THREE STARS. I even considered dropping the rating to TWO, but that's probably not fair considering the price. I could buy 4 sets of these (each set is a pair of bulbs) for the price of a SINGLE (1 unit, not a pair) OEM headlight bulb replacement. And I DO like the superior brightness of these bulbs over the OEMs. Still, now I have to replace the darn things again and it is a P.I.T.A. (to say the least). I won't be buying this same brand again (HYB). Instead, I am going with a competitor (RCP) this time because the ratings are very good and the price-point is in the same neighboorhood. Also, the bulb color temperature is identical and so are the lumens (6000K). I'll be reviewing the RCP product within a few days. The bottom line: the HYB headlight bulbs are decent replacements. They're terrific while they're working but the longevity and durability obviously leave a lot to be desired. I expected several years of service from a replacement headlight bulb, and HYB just isn't it. OEM proponents will harp that "there's a reason the OEM stuff costs 4 - 5 times (per bulb) versus what a PAIR of inexpensive alternatives like HYB costs". They've got a point when the OEM headlight bulb (at least in my case) lasted at least 5 years, and possibly from the day the car rolled off of the assembly line (I bought it used, so I don't know for sure). Longevity is a real issue. I don't know about the rest of you out there, but I bought the HYBs because I didn't have $140 - $175 PER BULB to replace mine with OEMs. I am just fortunate that I am able-bodied and know my way around car maintenance and such. Many folks out there aren't so fortunate, or so inclined, and don't have a bunch of cash laying around, either. I don't plan to switch to OEM anytime soon. Highway robbery might look interesting on TV, but I prefer not to experience it first-hand unless I have no choice (and even then, I'll attempt escape). The car dealerships pretty much have a license to steal when it comes to replacement parts (and many of the auto parts houses aren't far behind). if you REALLY want to reach a "state of emptiness", just take your car in to a dealer to have some work done. The "state of emptiness" you'll reach has nothing to do with ZEN and everything to do with your bank account. Given all of that, I'll live with inexpensive alternative headlight bulbs I have to replace a lot more frequently. Tempering my expectations is a lot easier that lighting piles of cash on fire. INITIAL REVIEW: So far, so good. I bought these on March 22, 2018 to replace a dying passenger-side HID low beam on a Toyota Avalaon 2008 Limited Edition. I like them. I might come to love them if they last. We'll see. They are brighter than the OEM headlamps, which I like. They are not TOO bright as some non-OEM headlamps are. 6000K Xenon HID is a cool blue/blue-white, but they're not overwhelming and ridiculous like some of the brighter ones out there. Brighter is NOT better, so don't mistake a higher "xxxxK" number for a better headlamp. Color spectrum matters, and if you go much brighter than this it's hard on your eyes, and devastating to the eyes of oncoming drivers. Oh, and if you're considering LED replacements, the same thing applies PLUS you need to convert your headlamp assembly to run LED if your car didn't come with LED. Otherwise it's dangerous. Just an FYI. Anyway, for under $30 these are terrific. I did look at using OEM replacements, but it was going to cost me OVER FOUR (4) TIMES THE PRICE to go that route. I wanted a headlamp that was a little brighter than what I had, and I didn't want to burn a hundred-forty bucks per bulb just to get what I had before. I'll keep an eye on the durability and reliability of these headlamps and if they're still going strong a year after purchase, I'll bump my rating to 5 stars and let everyone know the good news. OTOH if these don't hold up I'll likewise update the post and adjust the rating. ... show more

  • Great for the pry
Color: 8000K
Purchased these at a fraction of the cost of my local auto stores. I have used them for almost 6 months with no issues. Using surgical gloves even when unboxing to ensure no body oils are introduced.

  • Perfect fit for my 2007 Toyota Prius.
Color: 8000K
I purchased this pair of HID bulbs to replace the original bulbs in my 2007 Toyota Prius. These replacement bulbs were an exact fit for the replacement, and provide an excellent quantity and quality of light. One of the bulbs in my Prius was beginning to flicker, which I learned was a sign of impending failure. Considering that my Prius has 98,000+ miles on it without a replacement to-date, I feel very lucky. I learned that the cost of having the bulbs replaced by Toyota could be $500 or more, I was determined to take on the exercise myself. Replacing these bulbs is not something that just anyone should take on... like all other things Prius-related, the amount of space to work in is extremely tight and the process is potentially difficult. However, after studying the tutorials for the process online through YouTube and PriusChat, I felt more than capable. The most effective means to replace the bulbs involves removing the headlamp assembly, which also involves loosening the bumper cover and grille. That sounds like a lot of effort, but now that I know how it's done, I could easily complete the process of removing, replacing the bulb, and reinstalling the headlamp assembly in about 15 minutes per headlamp. If you choose to attempt this, I SERIOUSLY recommend researching and learning about the process first. I chose the 8,000 CRI version of the bulbs to provide the whitest, brightest light, and I'm very happy with my choice even though the do have a blueish tint. The 6,000 CRI version is probably closer to actual daylight. The OEM bulbs are 4,100 CRI, which provides a more yellow, warm light that's just not as effective at lighting the roadway a night. I was completely amazed at how much better I could see after replacing these bulbs. I read a few reviews where people complained that the bulbs burned out shortly after installation. Like halogen bulbs, it is critical that you do not touch the glass portion of the bulb at any time... the oils from your skin will cause the bulb to burn out in short order. When the bulbs arrived, I was happy to see that they were enclosed in a clear plastic container and also had a protective foam sleeve covering the glass portion of the bulb to simplify handling prior to installation. By removing the headlamp assembly to replace the bulb, it was easy to make sure I didn't touch the bulb by mistake during installation. If you attempt installation without removing the headlamp assembly as some instructions state, I think you run a very high risk of damaging the bulb because of the extremely tight space in which you have to work. Time will tell how well these bulbs will endure, but for now I'm a very happy buyer and I've saved hundreds of dollars. I would definitely go this route again in the future if I had to do so. ... show more

  • Inexpensive replacement.
Initially these seem great, but time will tell if they are as good as the price is.
