I had to order a few of these to get the size right. (And yes, my dog is getting bathed and groomed this weekend! LOL) FOR REFERENCE: My dog is an adult Welsh Springer Spaniel who has two Hurtta harnesses, both size medium, that fit perfectly. He is 24" from nape of neck to base of tail, and 25" around his ribcage. He weighs 48-49 pounds (plus approximately two tons of fur). SIZES: I first ordered a 24" raincoat, and it could have worked (thanks to the cinching-up part by his tail), but the "bib" that comes between the front legs to fasten around his torso was WAY too long (it'd be easy to alter if you know how to sew, BTW). Because I really like the design, I then ordered a 22" coat and a 20" coat, to see which fit better. The 20" was just a smidge too small; just barely covered his hips and seemed like it might be annoying as he moved his front legs forward. Just like in Goldilocks, the 22" coat was Just Right! The upshot of this is that you might want to buy the size you think you need AND the next size down, then return the one that doesn't work (look for free returns, as not all seller options offer these). I am a former dog trainer and think the 22" coat would fit most standard-sized Border Collies, Aussies, English Springers, etc. Beagles would need smaller, and a big Aussie might need bigger---but it's all about the dog's LENGTH, not girth. The girth strap is almost infinitely adjustable to fit any dog of even vaguely normal proportions. COLORS: In my experimentation, I ordered the blue, orange and black jackets. The blue was my favorite: a medium greyish blue, not cutesy and not royal blue or turquoise. The orange was really muddy looking and IMHO ugly (and I generally LIKE orange!); definitely not hunter orange, more like the outside of a sweet potato or something. It clashed with my dog and my own bright-orange raincoat, so that left me with black (the only color available in the 22" size), which is actually a very, VERY dark grey. It looks classy and all that, although it doesn't win any awards for visibility. Thank goodness the reflective bits are very reflective! I really wish the blue were available in my dog's size. I can't say too much about DURABILITY or WATERPROOFNESS, because I just got the raincoat. I can say, though, that I've used Hurtta products for years and they're all well designed and durable, which is a big part of why I was willing to pay so much for this raincoat. PS My dog doesn't even mind the cowl being up over his head! It's a much better design than a hood would be, because the cowl moves with his head as he looks from side to side, rather than a hood, which would obstruct his view.

Ok, so its not perfect, but that's to be expected because of the style. Her lower chest and under belly still get a bit wet, but... easy to put on; only coat that covers her neck (she walks with her head down, sniffing the ground, and she had a long neck and pointy ears - hoods are useless for her); covers her butt/flanks and the leg straps don't 'ride up' (most coats, i don't even use those because of this issue); adjusts for her curly tail (think: husky-like); fits her (she has a wide, deep chest but is otherwise slender); fits over her jk9 harness, or not - adjust just the one strap; fits over underlayers, thick or thin or none - adust just the one strap; keeps her body dry (although we haven't tried a really torrential downpour or bomb cyclone yet, just regular rain and 15-30 mph wind); only lists to the side a very little bit; stays covering her flanks even with strong wind at the back, if the back leg straps are on (yes, in 15-30 mph wind); and she can pee and poop in it, even with back leg straps on! (Although, if windy, I make sure the flaps are moved to the side because they hang low on her). I got a 22". Probably could have fit the size down, but I like the roomyness. She is a taiwanese dog, 50# (yes, very big for that landrace), 21" length, 28" chest, 18" neck at collar, 22" neck above the shoulder blades, height about a border collie size. I usually have to go a size up to fit her deep, wide chest (across the front), and then i still fasten the front loose and the belly is usually way too big. Love this coat - especially the neck! ๐ Mila also likes this coat - at least, she will go out in the rain with it on and will do a 2.5 to 3 mile walk ๐. I definitely recommend it.

I love this coat I love how adjustable it is how easy it is to put on. Everything is great about this coat. Will keep your dog dry even if itโs pouring. Although, because of the material it gets damp and you have to dry it in a dryer if you wore it in the morning and now want to wear it in the evening. I wish they would do a redesign on this coat with better waterproof materials, maybe even human grade. Now Iโm looking for an exact copy of this coat but made from better water proof materials.

We dont get massive storms in Southern California. But when the wet season comes around, theres a decent amount of rain. But this definitely helps keep most of my dog dry - just her legs and head gets wet. The reflective bits are very bright when shined on. It's long enough to cover her entire body (which most brands don't) My only qualm is that the leg loops, that hold the butt-flaps down, ride up into her crotch and she really doesnt like it. It makes it uncomfortable for her and it's difficult to keep clean. It seems to be much more conducive for male dogs. My solution: I put each leg loop around both legs - that way it crosses on her belly and not near her crotch. It keeps the butt-flaps down and doesnt make her uncomfortable. The only reason it gets 4 stars from me is because of this design flaw. It is otherwise very useful and saves me having to do a full-body drying on my double-coated dog.

Finally a raincoat for our 75 lb pittbull mix. We tried, and returned 4 other raincoats by different companys. We used the measurements suggested by all of the companys. Out dog has a thick chest and neck and the raincoats that used velcro to close under her chin wouldn't close. This raincoat is a great design. It slips over her head, has an adjustable strap with a closure that wraps around her abdomen. It is somewhat adjustable at her neck and the base of her tail. This is a great raincoat!

Size 14 fits the same on our 18lb Boston Terrier as our Summit Parka & Extra Warm Winter parka. Same Hurtta Quality. Bought this as a replacement for the Summit Parka. (Wish I could get another Summit for her.). This is a raincoat only. No warm lining.
